Default Twentynine Palms--Good place to raise kids?

Do you think it is a good place to raise a kid? Why or why not?

my personal opinion--
If you can help confirm or change it, it would be appreciated.

It's a plus and a minus in Twentynine Palms. The schools don't seem to have much money, and there is a lot of low income families there also. I'm not saying that kids from low income families are bad though. There are also quite a few military families, so kids can make good friends just to have them have to move away. There isn't much to do out there, but I think in many ways that has made the kids out there more like real kids. They ride dirt bikes and quads, hang out at the local drive-in, go to the local pool and park, use there imagination to entertain themselves. It's kind of refreshing to see kids actually acting like kids. Yes, there are druggies out there, but I've never felt scared in Twentynine Palms. Some parents tend to be rough around the edges and I hear some pretty bad language used by them. I also see very young girls pregnant all the time. I don't see that as a deterrent though, it's up to the parents to raise there children correctly no matter what is around them.

I grew up in Joshua Tree/ Yucca Valley, which are the next towns to the west of 29 palms and i turned out ok i guess! No, but 29 is mostly a marine town. That must be why your asking? Getting relocated? I didnt really like going to 29 much, hotter, more trouble going on there I thought. Definitely more diverse races there, more white where i was from. Not a big deal though.

No, no, no! The drugs, gangs, and general low-class-ness of the place are indescribable. The schools, like any in CA, are awful. Despite the base being nearby, it's not safe to walk the streets at night.
