Hi, we are thinking about transfering to McFarland because we live in Phoenix and I absolutly hate the desert (we just moved here from Germany because my husband got stationed here). Could you tell me if McFarland is green? Or brown like here? Lots of trees? Snow in the winter? 4 seasons? would appriciate your help! Stefanie

You're looking in the wrong place if you're sick of hot and dry.

At that elevation, I'd say Oregon if you head north. You either need to climb a mountain or stay west of any coastal mountains to avoid the heat. But of course there's no snow on the coast and even then its not exactly green in along most of the CA coast south of San Francisco. Have you considered Tahoe?

McFarland is Greener than Phoenix, but the Summers there are also hot,but not as hot as Phoenix.
The Winters in McFarland are more Chilly than in Phoenix, and you'll experience days of Tule Fog during the Winter as well...The Season Changes are Noticeable in the Central Valley and Snow is rare. Just wondering why you choose McFarland ? Quote:

Wow's it's so funny to see someone wanting to move to McFarland! I lived in Delano and went to McFarland for school. I thought it was the smallest city in California and nobody knew about it. What is taking you to McFarland?

McFarland because my husband could transfer there (he works at the prison). It's either Phoenix, Florida or McFarland.. ;0) Not much to chose from.. Well after I heard your answers I guess we are going to stay here until we find jobs else where.. :0) Where would you live if you would have the chance to live WHEREVER you wanted?

McFarland is a very small town, and their really isn't much going on there.
If I were you I would choose Bakersfield, which is about 20-25 mins from McFarland if you both do decide to move to Kern County. Quote:
