Default Anyone out there in Blythe CA?

My husband's new job is taking us to Blythe CA and I've been there once a couple months ago for the day just to check it out. I need HELP! Where should I look? I have 2 young kids and need somewhat entertainment for them. Any help will be GREAT!

Entertainment in Blythe??? Well, maybe if you travel to the river. Otherwise, there isn't much in Blythe.

Well, you can always make lemonade out of lemons! There's lots of wide open space if you and your kids like off-roading.

Twinkle Toes, I like you. You seem to always have something nice to say, even when something rude could be said. I have never been to Blythe, but my husband used to deliver there. He said it's a lot of desert. One year when his DL needed to renewed he did it in Blythe because their DMV has ZERO wait time. It was his best DMV experience ever.

Hmmmm ... my license expires in 2010. By that time we should have several million more people in the Coachella Valley, where I live. I'm gonna have to keep Blythe DMV in mind! It's only about an hour and 15 to 30 minutes from where I live.

Thanks - I like you too!!!

Default Blythe is an isolated, lonely, hot town.

I lived in Blythe for 10 years. There is very little to do there unless you boat on the river or ride offroad bikes in the desert. I hated growing up in the middle of the desert, 3 hours from anywhere. They do have several fast food restaurants due to the freeway travelers.

The schools have some of the worst ratings in the state. Check out schooldigger.com. There are drug problems and lots of underage drinking at a young age. I attended elementary through Freshman year in Blythe. Many of my teachers were ineffective, unprofessional, shaming and insensitive. (I am a retired teacher)

If you have to live there, I would advise living close to town. There are many snakes and other creatures in the area.

I realize it has been a long time since I lived in Blythe and I personally am not fond of desert living, but I am sure some things haven't changed out there.

Best of luck.

Been thru Blythe on the way to AZ...dont see much from the hwy. How far is Blythe from Yuma??? Yuma looks bigger and might have more for you...it looks about 45 miles or so south of there. Seeing that traffic might not be a problem....your husband could commute...would take him about 45 minutes, maybe?

Its truly in the middle of nowhere. 100 miles to the Palm Springs area and 150 to Phoenix.
