Now I just looked at the schools and yes she is correct........palm Desert has better public schools but higher home prices and La Quinta has prices more in my range but bad schools. Damn. This Is always the issue I run into. Whats the solution.

The La Quinta schools are not bad. This may be your solution ... I live in La Quinta, but my son goes to Palm Desert High School. We got an interdistrict transfer. Not because we don't like La Quinta schools, but because we lived in Palm Desert before and my son had been in Palm Desert schools since kindergarten. He wanted to go to high school with the same kids he's known basically his whole life. He will be graduating with kids he went to kindergarten with. The district office is on Dune Palms Road in LQ.

Some of the schools in La Quinta are good. We are in Amelia Earhart elemetary district, which is a great school- IMO as good as Palm Desert. It's also the only IB elementary school in the Coachella valley. We also are in John Glenn middle school boundary, which is also an IB school. The rest in La Quinta I personally would avoid though. If you can do what Twinkle Toes suggested and get into the Palm Desert schools that would be a very good option.
I agree about the cove. I drive out there, and walk around a bit on weekends by the trailhead. There are some really nice houses, and many are very close to some that scare me. LOL. I would live down there if I was single, but not with my 10 year old.
Northeast Indio (all the new developments north of I-10) is good as well. I personally love North La Quinta and Palm Desert (north area) the best though.

I was online looking for a place to live in the Indio area and I found this blog.I'm going to be working in Indio, and I want to go to the School of The Desert, what are some good towns that are that area that would make it easy to commute to either of those places?

Do you mean College of the Desert?

COD is easy to get to from anywhere in the valley.

I go to COD and live in La Quinta. North Indio, North La Quinta, and Palm Desert would be my choice.

What are your thoughts about Cathedral City. My partner and I live in Florida and we're planning on moving to the Palm Springs area. We're in our 50's and we love to golf. Any suggestions on safe areas? Thanks!
