It will be very different from WNY but I can give you more specific comparisons if you want to let me know what suburb you are moving from.
Hiya WNYerinSOCAL!! Thank you- I haven't been on the boards in awhile; we will be moving from the Kenmore/Tonawanda area.... But I grew up in Buffalo & attended school there. When we decide to move, we want our son to be in a good school district like the KenTon schools here in WNY. We work for Blue Cross Blue Shield, and hoping to find decent jobs with our experience. (I also have 10 previous years experience in commercial banking, and wouldn't rule that out either).

My husband just found out he has cousins in the San Diego area, and I have a contact in San Diego who also recommended Temecula.

Have you ever regretted the move? Is it severe culture shock? I love SoCal and I feel we have outlived our usefulness in WNY, if that makes any sense!

Feel free to private message me as well if you like.... Thanks so much!

Although crime seems to be increasing and I've experienced this first hand sadly, it is still much safer than most surrounding areas save for pricey OC and SD. I have a family here and we feel safe, but that being said we're considering leaving SoCal for an even safer area. Most crimes are theft related and non-violent but they are increasing.

Take a good look at what $200k will get you in Temecula and Murrieta, it's not much. My advice is a smaller home/condo closer to Temecula rather than a bigger one farther away in a nearby city.

Temecula and Murrieta are a great place to raise a family if you are set on living in California. They have great schools, many recreational programs like soccer, baseball, basketball. Lots and lots of great restaurants and shopping. If you are into wine there are a ton of beautiful wineries close by, every weekend is the Temecula Farmer's market in Old Town Temecula and they constantly have great events there during the year. Lot's of 'Soccer Mom's' there too.

The downside is the BRUTAL summer heat, the high cost of housing, gas and food and the screwed up California Government.

We are moving out of this area for those reasons.

LOL at Temecula having BRUTAL summer heat. I don't know where in the US you could move that had a better climate year round than Temecula, unless it's someplace else in CA.
