Default What About Thousand Palms, Ca?

We are looking at a winter residence in Thousand Palms, CA. I see that it is rather off the beaten track, but possibly more important, not too far from Desert Hot Springs.

I read Deserter's comments and am thinking maybe this is not a good idea.

Comments please.

Default Thousand Plams ..... that is about ....

70-80 miles away. This is the Thousand Oaks forum. All that I know of Thousan Palms is what I've seen when traveling on I-10 to somewhere else. About the only thing I rememer is giant (about 100 feet high) pile of trash next to the freeway. It appears treeless and quite dumpy. Adjacent to a ugly industrial area.
