Default breaking a lease due to health issues

I signed a lease on my upstairs apartment 6 months ago. Since then health issues have come to light which require me to move to a downstairs apartment (doctor's recommendation). If there is not an available lower unit in my complex, what sort of problems will I encounter if I have to break the lease?
Thank you.
