I'm a middle aged single guy starting new job in Corona, and moving from the S.F. Bay area (Fremont). Don't know much about the area. I read in a previous post here that Corona had more crime that Lake Elsinore and Murieta. Future co-worker recommended living in Lake Elsinore and Murieta over Corona but I didn't have time to ask why. I'd prefer to live closer to work in Corona area and avoid long commute. My question is- is crime in Corona an issue and are there any area(s) in Corona in particular that should be avoided? Appreciate any advice. thanks

Avoid the circle area of the Circle City and the apartments off Mckinley. All the newer subdivisions are good to go. Nice big newer homes off Cajelco.

What part of Corona is your job located? That would help recommend a particular neighborhood. Parts of Corona are bad but there are many great areas. It's hard for me to believe that Corona has more crime than Lake Elsinore...

Eastvale happens to be one of the best cities next to Corona. Norco is decent also.

Job located in business area off E. 6th street between 15 and South Promenade / Magnolia. Interest in apartment only not buying a house. Wouldn't expect any worries with car theft - is 10+ years old domestic make sedan - nothing fancy. Thanks for the advice.

Yeah, I'd avoid Lake Elsinore.

I don't know too much about Corona, so I can't help you there. It seems decent enough, though.

Some of Lake Elsinore is very good actually, like the North Lake area and anywhere east of the 15.

OP, there are some apartments on Mckinley and South Promenade called Siena at Corona Hills.

This. They look like decent apartments. I think there are some additional apartments a little further east. Don't go south of the 91 near the freeway, not a good area (Home Gardens). I don't think Norco has many apartments. There are some apartments on River Road just west of Hamner, but I might avoid there. You may want to try going south on the 15 (foothills off of Magnolia and Ontario and further south at Dos Lagos). Also some apartments in Eastvale/Mira Loma on Hamner just south of Limonite. All within a 20 minute drive.

To the OP, go to the city of Corona website and look at police calls. Stay away from Mckinley and Home Gardens.

I enjoyed living at Sierra Del Oro and never had issues, but it was a few years ago, so things may have changed since then. The neighborhood was pretty quiet and walking distance to a grocery store and food options. Sierra Del Oro Apartments, 1456 Serfas Club Drive, Corona, CA 92882

"Bad" is kind of an overstatement. Some areas are older and some are newer and nicer - all of it is better than a blighted urban area in LA, Oakland etc. I never felt unsafe at any time in any area. That said, yes do avoid Home Gardens.
