Chino is a family oriented city but the prison is literally right behind College Park community! I just got an email for a new home slashed below 400k. It would have to drop to 300 for me to even consider living so close especially with small kids.

Cows and flys are rapidly disappearing, agree, housed are too much. Prisons I would have to think about, but it doesn't seem to worry many people.

It's a relatively safe city. Chino is next to Chino Hills, one of Southern California's nicest towns. Crime is actually below the national average.

chino prison has a siren for alerting neighbors: YouTube - Chino Prison Siren Test from hill

last time an escapee did significant harm was Cooper, way back in the 80's (85? or 84?)
Condemned Killer Spared , Cooper Won Stay Of Execution For 1985 Murder - CBS News

its not as bad as you think.

most escapee's just want to get the heck away from chino, they dont want to hang around for obvious reasons.

People seem to forget that where there's a prison, there's a million cops working there. In much greater numbers than in an average city.

I work in a Cali state prison (not Chino) and I'm constantly impressed with the officers there. I have yet to see an incident go down because they're so quick to put an end to it before it even starts.

Sorry but especially now that home prices are plummeting, there is no way in hell I would live in a homer , where if I was standing in my back yard I can see a prison tower. Hell no, especially with small kids. I already see homes in that new College Park community dropiing to the low 300s. Soon it will be 200s. Still not low enough for the risk.

The prisons are not a concern. They don't look like something out of a movie, they are modern and look like college campus'.
There are a heck of a lot more bad guys outside the walls, in any given town, than on the inside. The ones inside can't hurt you.
Chino is a great town. you will love it there....
