My husband's employer is transferring us from Seattle to Corona. Work is located north of 91 and west of 15. Looking to rent townhome or house for $1800-$2000/month. (Kind of done with apartment life after our stay in Seattle - very expensive here too!). Looking for safe place (priority) with minimal commute. I've read the Murrieta are is quite safe but not sure what that commute would be like. Should we consider Corona? I would like to continue working in the public school system also. One college graduate daughter may move in with us to look for work also (she wants to get out of Michigan!) Lots going on here! Any advice appreciated!

Corona is great if you can afford it. Most rents and mortgages are based on wages earned by those in OC or LA as that is where most people work. I work in Corona and most of my coworkers live in Riverside and points east of Corona as the prices are much cheaper.

Where in the Riverside are would you suggest? Also curious about the southern areas (Lake Elsinore, Marietta, Wildomar). What's that commute like?

The Lake Hills area of Riverside is nice. Only a few miles from Corona. Exit La Sierra off the 91 and go south. Nice views and a little less expensive than Corona.

The big drawback of living in Corona is that you will be subject to the traffic of the 91. It's nearly impossible to live in Corona and not have to deal with the huge amount of bumper to bumper traffic and constant construction this particular freeway is plagued with.

The main issue is not knowing where you will work. You could be setting yourself up for a rough commute. Corona is perfectly fine though and I considered moving there when I was in Chino Hills to save some money. I sort of doubt $1800-2000 will get you a detached house but it would probably get you a nice 2BR apartment or townhouse.

Yes, you should live in Corona. Traffic is there but will be better for you than going from there to anyplace else. Riverside is another option. You could live in northern OC but housing for your budget would not be easy to find and would not be close to you.

Yes there are plenty of good places to live in Corona. No need to get into traffic to live somewhere else.

I liked corona in general but I lived right off the 91 and OMG the traffic is horrendous. If you can get away with not having to use that freeway, go for it.
