Thanks For The Help
I really would like to be able to take a train to LA and leave my car there. But there is no service to Temecula area.
Screenial, I know it is a vicious circle but this is a matter of public policies concerning public mass transit.
Jeffncandace, thks for your comments. It looks like finally we will go to Murrieta. Hope everything works out good!
Thks again everybody.

Pasadena has smoggy summers but not as bad as the areas you mentioned. I lived there and loved it. Burbank has a little less smog than Pasadena. In the summer all areas are smoggy except the beaches. The good news is it's been getting better in the last few years. The further east you go, the more smog you get.
Regarding asthma and smog: I was diagnosed with asthma and had the inhaler and some meds when I lived on the Central Coast. When I got to L.A., I didn't need them anymore. The smog never bothered me. That's just my story, I can't speak for anyone else.

This is just me, but I would never move an asthmatic child into the LA basin.
My wife's great-aunt lived in Rancho Cucamonga for years, and her asthma kept getting worse and worse. She and my wife's great-uncle moved up north, where we are located, and she hardly ever had to use her inhaler, except when she over-exerted herself. After getting the run-around from our county on the lot they were trying to get their house built on (foreclosure purchase with lack of an easement for a driveway), they gave up and moved to Hemet, plus she missed all her friends down in the LA area. Now she's using the inhaler all the time again, and has to sleep with a respirator on at night to keep her asthma under control while she sleeps.
I guess all asthmatics react differently, but she seems to have gotten the short end of the stick.

I am completely sickened by the smog polluting and sitting in our beautiful Temecula Valley! At first I wasn't sure if it some kind of crazy weather or something but after doing some research I've learned this is pollution coming in from LA.....and what's worst....is it's just sitting here not going away. The really big mountains to the East of Temecula have completely disappeared!! If you look REALLY closely you could see a little tiny bit of an outline towards the bottom right side of the bigger mountains out here.....but that's it. The rest of the mountain has vanished. I've been keeping track of the air quality on AIRNow - Home and on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency sites and they say that the air is bad for people who have sensitive lungs. My kids don't have sensitive lungs, they are both healthy BUT I don't really want my kids playing outside when the next level down from (bad for sensitive lungs/people) is UNHEALTHY (meaning for everyone!) It almost looks as bad as China out here and I know it's only going to get worst until CA actually forces and makes BIG BIG changes with their vehicles. We've only been living here for 1 1/2 years and I'm already to move because of the pollution. I've been doing my research....but does anyone here know of some good areas in SO CAL that have good air quality. I know that sounds funny.....but my guess is if it's not in a valley....then the air can move and the pollution can go away....rather than just sit. I know it would always come back but.... I saw cam pictures of Joshua Tree National Forest....just recently and it too is a VERY SAD SAD sight. When is CA going to stop the pollution of cars? They did it once a few years ago....with the EV-1 electric car.....but because of money, politics and people not caring as much.....plus everything else.....the EV-1 car was killed by the mainstream maker, GM. Look up WHO KILLED THE ELECTRIC CAR on Google. It's a documentary. I could go on and on..... I will post more soon. I hope more people are active here. This is a very serious topic. Thank you for reading.

Riverside county maybe? Clean in the Jurupa Valley due to the Jurupa mountains north holding the SB air from blowing in. Mira Loma is a different story. Other than that you would have to drive south or to the coast to beat the heat and smog.
