Default What a boring place~how to fly from Redlands to San jose

Is the airport in Ontario the closest to Redlands? Seems only Southwest carries this flight but it was just reported this airline was sued for not taking routine safety check, Shame on it!
However, it still takes over 30mins driving to the airport in Ontario, so annoying! I haven't been to Redlands yet but heard that the airport in San bernardino will be open in the future but anybody knows when?

I would guess, given how things were progressing, sometime in 2010. If it's earlier, that's surprising. The whole town is depressed, so why would people fly in? It was a dream of mine too, but it didn't last long once I saw the neighborhood. They still fuel water dropping planes for the wild fires and minor commercial flights.

it is said on wiki: San Bernardino International Airport, the former Norton Air Force Base will provide passenger service to the city in June 2008.
maybe very soon this year? I don't want to go to San Bernardion either except for taking flights. Kin, so Ontario airport is currently nearest one to Redlands, right? I will choose Southwest because ticket is cheap :P

I wouldn't hold my breath on the San Bernardino airport. They've been yapping about that for YEARS! Your (close) choices currently are Ontario or Palm Springs - but Southwest does not fly in or out of Palm Springs.

The Ontario airport is actually pretty nice, and you can park there for as little as $6 a day. If Southwest was sued for not checking for safety, you can bet they are now, right? They have some pretty cheap flights for within California if you look at the right times, and they have a very good record of being on time. Just my thoughts.

I too wouldnt hold my breathe regarding SBD airport. My guess would be Palm Springs International Airport. I know Horizon Air (subsidiary of Alaskan Air) flys non-stop from PSP to SJC, its Flight 2624 and departs daily 7 days a week at 2pm and returns daily non-stop Flight 2625 at 4:15pm. This is the only non-stop available out of PSP. Out of Ontario (ONT) looks like only Southwest Airlines departs non-stops to SJC, with approximately 7 flights a day. The new redesigned ONT airport is a blessing compared to the old terminals. I fly SW frequently, never had any problems. I always show up a few hours early anyways with all flights because I like to watch the planes take off and land, with Southwest you check in early, you get the coveted "A" ticket, which boards first after the old foogies and the kids. I have flown Horizon once, that was an experience, but a good one. First time I had ever been on a turbo prop. It was an extremely smooth flight, a tad bit noisier than a normal jet (but its white noise and it fades out quickly) and a hair slower. Since the plane is a lot smaller, flight attendants seem to cater to your needs a little more, they didnt have as many passengers. As for Southwest and Horizon Air, when was the last time you have heard of one of them crashing (I cant remember any). You can check Airline Accident and Airline Safety and Security Information for airline safety. The only two instances Southwest has had was in 2000 skidded off runway at Burbank Airport (no fatalities) and in 2005 again skidded off runway at Chicago Midway Airport (no fatalities on plane). Actually SW is one of the safest airlines to fly. Horizon Air no accidents.
