Default Yucaipa to El Monte Commute

Hey everyone,

I am moving to SoCal over the next few months. My job is in El Monte. I am considering buying a house in Yucaipa, but I think the commute will take anywhere from 1:50 minutes to 2:30 hours each way. Thats driving to the metrolink station; taking metrolink from San Bernerdino to El Monte; and taking a bus from El monte to my work. Any body actually doing this, or something similar? How safe is the SB metrolink parking lot? By what time is it full?

Thanks in advance for your help

Default I live in Yucaipa

I live in Yucaipa and I don't see any kind of Metrolink over here. My friend was coming to visit me from L.A. and they told him to take the Metrolink from L.A. to San Bernardino (downtown) and then take a bus directly to Yucaipa (No. 9 bus). Yucaipa is boring. There is nothing to do. For nightly entertainment, you go to the bar on Dunlap Ave (off 18th street and Yucaipa Bl) for Karaoke. But most of us, go to the San Manuel Casino (only 20 minutes from Yucaipa) and listen to a live band at the Tukut Lounge 7 nights a week for free. If you go before 9 p.m you get as many free soft drinks as you want. Their web site is www.sanmanuelcasino.com Yucaipa is so hot in the summer you can't go without central air to be comfortable. The people? People in the stores go out of their way to be nice to you. There is mostly white people that live here with a few Mexicans. Highland (a city near here) has a crime problem. I went to the library and someone ravaged through my glove compartment of my car and stole everything they could and last week someone came in the Food4 Less with a gun waving it at everybody. I don't like Riverside either. Yucaipa is very small, and it is very hilly. The main street is Yucaipa Blvd and all it has is stores. The libray has no air conditioning and is in need of a major renovation. There is a community college in Yucaipa called Crafton Hills and if you are disabled, it's hard to climb the stairs to get to class. It's on a mountain. It never rained in Yucaipa all summer long and it was so dry here trees caught on fire less than one mile from my home. There is nothing to do here. Don't move here unless you like to stay home. It is a small town in the desert with some stores. That's the best way to describe it. We are a 90 minute drive from Los Angeles and at night, the streets are so dark you think you're in the Twilight Zone. Mary
