Just some input... I went to Serrano High School in Phelan (Only a few years ago) and they are not as great as some people are saying. They weren't really teaching you. They were reading out of the text book and having the kids figure things out for themselve. When I had a question, it was never answered. I was only there for a couple of months. I went to Villa Park High School 9th through 11th, and that school was amazing. Unfortunately it isn't in the desert, but I just thought I would let you know form experience. My brother in law is in 5th grade and was attending Phelan elementary and the teacher he had was a dimbat! He wouldn't do his homework and she told me that as long as he did at least 2 answers, that was fine. So Don't go there, they are MUCH too lenient on the kids, at least that teacher was.

jtussey, thank you much for the input, from your experience Phelan doesn't appear to be what I would want for my children, so far my children are pretty good students and pretty focus on achieving their goals! Hopefully they can cantinue that way! We appreciate your opinion even more because you experienced attending school in that area!!

Please check out schooldigger.com ... it is a wealth of information! =)

I grew up in the High Desert and own a home in Hesperia that we rent out... If I moved back...I'd go to Spring Valley Lake. I have 4 kids (9,6,4,2) and I would consider putting them in private school but the new school at Spring Valley lake is ranked pretty well..it's called Endeavor School of Exploration. There are also many charter schools. I agree that Hesperia High is horrible... Sultana is better but still not great. Definetly check out schooldigger.com It's a huge help.

I commute to Rancho Cucamonga. It is 40 minutes one way, 80mph...no problemo.
