I had to reply,
a handful of people on this thread are in the same situation as me.
I moved to Texas Last march and am currently trying to get back to California... I came from Los Angeles County, went to Dallas area and now I am looking into Temecula.
Sinaloa,
Temecula appears to be a great place to raise a family. And it's not too far from San Diego.
Good luck with your future!

I love hearing people want to come back to Cali! I hear this so often from people who have moved away. The reason is almost something people can't put their finger on, it is just a great place.
Regarding schools, I would google Temecula, Fallbrook schools, search for API scores by district and then city and you will get a good feel for how the schools are performing. I believe Poway is a sought after school district in San Diego.
One thing to keep in mind, if moving inland is Interstate 15 into S.D. gets pretty crowded so if you can find work closer to home that would probably be all the better. The Inland Empire economy is taking the biggest hit, so jobs may be an issue.
See ya in Cali!

Thank you all for taking the time to write its so helpful to Know other people's opinions. I think We are going to start working very hard on selling our house here in Texas so we can move back as soon as possible, and YEs property taxes are very expensive We pay almost $7,000 thats crazy, I know cost of living is more in Califronia but at the end adding everything its about the same because of taxes and groceries being so expensive here.

Sinaloa, I think it's commendable that you're trying to move back to CA. Currently, I'm pondering similar issues. I've lived in many parts of the state; including the San Diego region. However, I've grown partial to the hi-desert. Specifically, the Victorville-Hesperia area. That glorious warm-dry climate with cool nights works wonders for my allergies. Plus, I thoroughly enjoy the people and various alternatives found in those communities. Housing is a bit more affordable in that area than other parts of the state. My brother owns a home there - free and clear - and thoroughly enjoys the "quality of living." Except for distance issues, it may nicely satisfy your needs. Success in the transition.

Also in Tx and thinking about moving back to california, the High Desert most likely. We have been in Houston for 2+ years.
Husband works as a manager for an auto parts company that just bought out Kragen autoparts.
We had sold our house in the high desert before the housing downfall. Came out to Tx, income better now, than when we were in california. He could transfer, I work from home. Both in our early 30's. No kids. 1 small dog, also from california, lol.
We have a house here that could be rented and pay for itself. Husband really wants to go back. I'm still undecided.
decisions,decisions......

Thank you,Booz30.
Tell me something, has the crime gotten as bad as they make it sound? I lived in adelanto before, by the new stater brothers. It was ok, I never had any problems with anyone. Have things changed that much?

Congratulations on your new home, booz30. About how much will your pmt be. If you don't mind me asking? What's the name of the developer? I have visited some websites, but the prices still show very high, maybe their sites have not been updated.
I used to live right at the corner of bellflower and villa. The person that we sold our house to is asking if we want to buy it back. I fell so bad for them, it was their first home.
