For many of us: home is where the heart is.

Now: if someone suggested that I move back to Wash DC; I would politely suggest that said individual 'pound sand'------despite my being a DC native (born/raised)-----that place was never 'home' to me.

We left in 2001 and haven't been back or plan to do so. But I do miss some things, familiarity (sp?) for one thing. Like when people here start talking about "remember when this was a big field etc..." and I have no clue, lol.
I like visiting the Ca forums, it keeps me feeling like I have a small attachment!

It's so good to hear more people are feeling like us. We moved to Nashville a year ago and we're so ready to come back. We are in the process of transferring now. We thought it would be cheaper here. But it's not. Gro's, veh ins and health ins went up when we got here. We were shocked. And the real estate here is more than what we expected. We can get a newer home in Riverside cheaper than we can get here. And waiges are better in California.
There is also so much more to do in California. We miss it so much. Hope to hear more from you all to see if you made it back. I'm hoping we can be back soon.
People here in Nashville argued saying I was crazy to say Nashville is more expensive. But I've lived in both places within a year. And believe it or not; drivers are so much better in California than here. I never thought I'd hear myself say that! Good luck everyone and hope to be back in California soon!!

I'm with you too missy! We moved to Utah in 2005 and never got used to it. I miss the weather, the freeways, the street names, and most of all the people. I don't ever remember being asked what religion or ethnicity I was. I also miss the asian markets where I bought the freshest seafood and the mexican markets where I could find any mexican spice I was looking for and hot corn tortillas. I miss the beach...We are trying to sell our house so we can move back. We've been looking at Canyon Lake in Riverside Cnty. Seems affordable & beautiful, am still researching though. Good Luck to all of us "dislocated" Californian's

I know what you mean chinogrl! We can not find an Asian market here. We have to have relatives mail us things from California. And their are no cheap seafood or veggies here. And they are prejudice here for sure. I was attacked on their forum here for stating how I thought it was more expensive here. I didn't even mention how rude people are here. The answers on that forum was all I needed to verify just how rude people are here. They really put California down. I do miss the friendliness of the Californians and wish we never would have moved. It only took us a year to see the difference. We wish we'd never left California.
We are looking at the Riverside/Yucaipa area. The housing market is way more affordable now and prices are still coming down. Canyon Lake is very nice also.
I hope you all the luck in the world in getting back. Please keep me posted. It feels so good to hear from people like ourselves that want to go back. Especially the way I was attacked here because of it.
We're lucky, we didn't buy a home here. Well; they wanted too much for what they had to offer. So I'm just thankful that we didn't buy anyway. All we need is the word that we have the job and we're California bound.

chinogrl, I agree with you, I miss FAMILY, friends, I miss the beach, the mountains... We do feel "out-of-place" and home-sick. Like you said, we are "dislocated" Californian's. I'm still thankful for the experience of being able to reside in a different state. But that just made us miss Cali much more...

Good luck on your relocation.

Thanks, we're a bit stuck in Texas but still with our minds set to go back to Cali... Hopefully our house will sell soon!!!
