Misplaced, the grass is not always greener back home, is it? Good luck with your move!

pll, You are so right! Our children don't mind Texas anymore, they have become accustomed to it but as far as my husband and I, we have not gotten used to life in Texas and still wish to move back to Cali...

Sidney, I'm glad to know that we're not the only ones missing Cali so much, I hear a lot of negative things about Cali but I still wish we were there instead of were we're now.

It could be worse....lol....we left CA two years ago for Fl, I would gladly take TX but prefer CA.
It is still in the 90s with high humidity, about two weeks ago there was fluke weather low humidity and in the high 70s/low 80s. Felt like CA.
People were outside, raving about the weather, I said this is Southern CA for most of the year.
FL has nice weather for about 3 months in the winter, I have spent more time indoors due to the heat and humidity here than I ever did even when it was really hot in CA. Also now have allergies due to the pollen here.

I also miss the roads in CA. FL has some awful highways and drivers here,Good God, a day doesn't go by if isn't a senior in the left hand lane it is a teenager doing something reckless.
They drive here with no car insurance!!! It is illegal but they don't impound the cars like CA does, so they keep driving..... unreal
I feel like I'm living in another country...LOL.or another planet.

I want to go back to CA too !
Glad to see others miss it too. We moved to Maryland and thought it would be great! Big mistake! But with jobs the way they are, I too am trying to find a job out there first, or at least have some leads, save some money to tide us over, and my goal is to get back there before next school year starts!! Good luck and lots of prayers for all of us with our quest to return to home (where the our hearts are!) and in the meantime, survive where we are!

My husband was missing Ca. after being here so long. He was actually also born in Ca. Well due to a medical issue we sold our home in the midwest and ended up back here in Ca. Not long after we were back he realized what he was missing here didn't exist here at all and he wanted to go back. All the reasons we left are still here, he just forgot them for until he got back. We have bought another house and will be moving back out of California.

Yep,
I am a native Californian and grew up in OC. My teen years were spent at Newport Beach. I have moved out three times now. I won't be coming back.
California has the best weather, beautiful scenery and tons of things to do. BUT it isn't what it was and will never be again. If you are young the pace is fine but as you get older the cost in money and stress is not really worth it.
I have moved for probably the last time, though who knows for sure. However California no longer has the appeal except in my memory. Reality is drastically different.
I am now in Tennessee and love it. Great people, beautiful scenery, low costs, great medical, and no long drives across the desert to go someplace besides CA. Calif will always be the home of my youth, but Tennessee will be my "Home" now. Having tried it several times, I can tell you you can't move "back home". You can move back to California (or anywhere else) but it will be different, even after just a few years.

TN is a nice state. It beats the heck out of Florida...LOL I understand what your saying there are other places besides CA. But I have not found one state that has it all beaches, mountains, snow....all within a couple of hours of each other.
CA has issues for sure. But I have to say when it comes to things like maintaining highways and road safey it is top notch.
I can't call what they have here in FL freeways, and you better know where your going because the road signs don't tell you. No advance notice, a lane turns into an off ramp, no notice.....unreal.
There is a reason they call it Flori-duh....LOL... and the most reckless drivers I have ever seen. I used to enjoy driving....not here... I actually limit my trips when I can because of the drivers here.

Yes there are many things to enjoy in SoCal, however most people are working too much trying to survive here; thus there is not much time (or $$) left over to go enjoy these things. I am speaking on behalf of middle class families. To me, a middle class family is one that can NOT afford a $500k home. Or even $350k. We are the ones trying to survive and hoping to one day purchase a home in the $150-$200k range.
