Default Las Casuelas, Village Pub

I love Palm Springs!

The best mexican food and a great bar is Las Casuelas, and they also have a pretty decent band that plays there. Great margaritas.
Also the Village Pub is nice, I prefer Las Casuelas but the pub is nice too.
Have fun!

Just joined and saw this post.
I have a home in the desert(15yrs) and work in Newport Beach during the week.
First off, it is very hot in the summer and if you have Edison, well you better like high electric bills.
As far as the gayness, I will not head past Palm Desert any more.I am not antigay, just do not think my kids need to be that exposed to that life stlye.
There are plenty of nightlife now that the casinos have started to bring headlines in. Plenty of bars and such.
Palm Spings area used to be the place to go, not any more sorry to say.
Palm Desert is more of the Hot Spot of the Valley.
There are some very nice Church's in the Valley that have "single's" to meet.
I hope this helps, I work in O.C. for the money and the change of weather, My family heads down here for the summer.
If I was in my 20's again I would like the valley as it has grown from a sleepy little retirement community.

Desertho will become famous soon enoughDesertho will become famous soon enough
I am a single male in his 20s who just moved to the desert. I regret being here. It's true what people say about the hypersexualized public spaces of Palm Springs. The cost-of-living is just as high as in the coast. Gas for example are actually pricier here than in Riverside. Dining out is a pain since many good places are priced for tourists and not for casual dining. Weather is the least of my worries. It's the lack of activities available for single straight normal people that are driving me away. However, IF you have to stay here, I suggest looking for places in Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Bermuda Dunes, and La Quinta. They are centrally located and have a high quality-of-life, though the housing costs will not be different than the OC.

Good things I like about the desert is that the cities are image-conscious so visually they are much better looking than an LA suburb. Mexican food here is top-notch. Mexicans here are a lot different IMO than the ones on the coast. They are skinnier, more ambitious, and more polite. And if you like to drive, prepare to bring your Sunday morning best because the open roads are there for the taking.

I need to throw in another bone about the gay image of Palm Springs. It seriously hurts the city more than people are willing to admit. While gays gentrify an area rapidly, it has done the opposite to the city. Palm Springs has the ability to become a fun place again for ALL people.

So has anyone heard of any cool (straight) bars & clubs for some girls who are in town for the weekend?

Costas at the Desert Springs Marriott in Palm Desert on Country Club Drive at Cook Street.

Village Pub, a little rowdy in Palm Sprimgs on Palm Canyon (Hwy 111).

The new lounge at the Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage has a live band and dancing. Exit Bob Hope/Ramon off the 10 Fwy.

Not being a clubber anymore, those are the only three that come to mind at this time.

I saw rosie flories (texan rockabilly queen) at Pappy and Harriett's last summer. It was a great night. Lots of nice folks.

But yeah, as far as the JT saloon goes, a local shop owned told me that a daytime visit is fine (which was nice btw, great food) but to stay away at night. skin heads. fights.
