Palm Springs/Desert Nightlife?
I will be moving to the Palm Springs/Desert area. What clubs/bars do the younger professionals gather for fun?? I keep hearing about the retired and gay population...but is there any fun for us younger (straight and single) professionals??

Well you have The meat market better known as Zelda's.. Actually my friend owns that and would disown me if he knew I said that. It has been there forever and when in my early 20's I had some really fun times there. Also in PS there is Las Casuelas Terazza, they have a local live band and it is fun. The clubs there change hands so often and I have been gone over a year and who knows. Palm Desert seems to be the place to party these days. At Costa's at the Marriott. Also McCormiks if you are looking for a bit of older crowd...30's +. And keep in mind the NEST is for 50+.
What is taking you to the Coachella Valley and I am assuming you are from OC??? Do you have any idea what you are getting into? Hot and no where the things to do like in OC and don't try to find someplace to eat after 9 unless you go to TGIF's in PD or Denny's.

Thanks Compltlyme, I'm going for a career move. Yes I will have less to do...but with the increase in salary and lower cost of living...it's a win-win. I really dont go out much in the OC (anymore.) So I was wondering if Coachella Valley had atleast a few places for me to have fun.

VERY FEW... and keep in mind although a bit lower cost than OC... that is changing... A lot of transplants from your area. We were shocked that they were coming in and buying up those new homes at the cost they did! The homes are so close together and no yards. But OC people were snatching them up! But then they were getting twice the home for half the cost. But salary isn't what it is in OC either. And keep in mind... For most of where you will live in the PS area... from Palm Desert to PS... you will be on Edison and your bills for most of the year will more than triple what you are used to I am sure!
Just some things to think about...

South Beach on Hwy111 is fun. I've heard that some movie stars have shown up there during the Short Film Festival.

Cool Bar in Joshua Tree, up in the mountains. A drive up the road but worth a night of fun. Never know who is gonna show up and jamm. Some stellar rockers and more have graced the place. Can stay over night at Joshua Tree Inn.(Where Grahm Parsons, the Stones and more used to stay and write and play).Ask around or i will try to come back with the name and post it for you.
It's a movie set little town.

Bar in Movie set town
I think you're referring to Pappy & Harriet's in Pioneertown. I've never been there, but a friend keeps trying to get me to go.

I think he must be referring to be Pappy and Harriet's up in Pioneer Town too. The only real bar in Joshua Tree is the Joshua Tree Saloon, which has tons of old saloon character, but can be rough around the edges. The Marine Corps just made the Saloon off limits to all Marines. They kept getting in fights there.
I've seen some great performers at Pappy and Harriet's. Last time I went we saw Eagles of Death Metal, but they have a wide variety of music there. I guess Robert Plant shows up now and then. The drive up to Pioneer Town is gorgeous, and there are a million stars out at night. The food is even pretty good .

P&H is the only thing left up there after the fires. I hear the whole town about burnt down.
I loved it up there and had some fun times...but no place to live!
