Pros:
Weather, cooler than rest since closer to ocean
Location, close to San Diego and Orange County
Price, cheaper than OC/SD cities
Crime rate is low
Good Schools

Cons:
Drugs, I personally don't see it as a con since what a person does in private doesn't affect me...but LOADS of drugs esp meth (high school meth problem is HUGE)
Traffic sucks...it REALLY SUCKS
Ultra-conservative hypocrite types (hence the drugs to escape parents)
Boring place...you need to leave Temec for anything fun (except wine tasting and casino, but gets old quick)
Wildfire zone (if you live on the hillsides def. get insured)

Actually the "cooler weather" comes from the Pacific breeze blowing through the ridge which explains why the vineyards do so well. It gets hot during hte day (being in the valley), but those late afternoon winds cool it down nicely and keeps it cool overnight which helps the grapes.

As for Wildfire zone... yeah, parts of it. Most of the town is fairly safe though unless a fire comes ripping through from Anza through Wine Country. To the south the Palomar Mountains guard quite a bit although during last fall's wildfires, you could see the flames shooting up over the top of them. Doesn't give me that "safe" feeling since I live down on the south end of town.

Pros - Winco Foods (non-union grocery store with real prices, opposite of Ralphs), great yard sales on Saturday mornings, great public schools (my kids turned out just fine, even with the teacher's union's liberal drivel that might have driven them to do meth), availability of excellent private schools, wineries, Pechanga, I-15 accessibility, the hot rod meet once a year, and nice parks.
Cons - Excess non-drivers, traffic problems, non-synched traffic lights, "undocumented workers" positioned at the corner by Dan's Feed Store, disgustingly inflated home prices, tract home quality issues, fake bubbly bleach blonde trophy wives who pretend to be 19, hoity-toities, excess BMWs/Mercedes/Porsches/Jags and a keep up with the Jones at all costs attitude.
