Default Moving from Washington State to Murrieta or Wildomar

I grew up in Yucaipa, California and when I was a teenager was forced to move to dreary Washington State. Ever since moving to this wonderfully green (trees) and gray (sky) state I have wanted to move back to Southern Califrornia. Now in my 30's and with the prices falling it seems like an ideal time to move back.

My question is this, can I buy a newer (10 or less years) home with 2200+ square feet and 4 or more bedrooms for 260K or less in Murrieta or Wildomar?

I have steadily been watching number and cost of homes in these areas for about 6 months now. As the number of available homes goes up the prices come down, as would be expected. However, today I decided to get serious about moving and spoke with a realtor in the Inland Empire and she informed me that it is not possible to get a home in either area I mentioned above for under 350k. This seems to fly in the face of everything I have been reading.

Some good reliable information would be much appreciated.

Funny, I grew up in Washington and have been living in Corona for 4 of my last 8 years in Southern California. I would love to move back!

I would suggest keeping an eye on housing because you should be able to find something in your price range in Murrieta and Wildomar. Just be aware that the IE is flooded with foreclosure properties and from what I've heard from co-workers living in Murrieta, it's really bad there. But that just means that it's a great opportunity for you if you plan to stay long term.

You might be able to get a home for that price but maybe not a newer one. Check on realtor.com

I second weindyinca- I've been house shopping in Temecula, which tends to be a little pricier than Murrieta, and definitely pricier than Wildomar, and you could probably even find such a house here for that price! I'd say keep an eye on the market through online MLS listings and look to purchase in the down-season (i.e. winter). I'm sure you'll be able to find what you're looking for. Good luck!
