Midtown, Baseline, border of Colton stand out for me any part of day or night as tough neighborhoods.
Otherwise any other place after dark is unsafe.
Best areas may be North of Cal State, by the Little League fields. There are sections too around the San Manuel Indian reservation and some closer to Highland.
Good luck with whatever you want to do with that information.

It's a shame you have to drive do far up North to find a half way decent part.
But you still gotta come down in the city to live and shop and get on the frwy. THE GOOD PART OF SANBERDOO...NONE...THE BAD PART OF SAN BERNARDINO....SAN BERNARDINO. Just move east to Redlands or West to Rancho Cucamonga, Upland or Claremont.

Redlands??? Move to south redlands because most area north of the ten is not safe after dark. There may not be murders but there sure is a lot of auto theft, petty theft, and assault. But i would really recommend a rancho if money isnt a problem. if so then west Fontana would be great.

Northern San Bernardino is nice with homes selling in the 800K mark...Some selling in the low 1 million mark. This was prior to the crash, however, the masterplan for Northpark is looking to keep this area nice. I went to high school in part of town. All of my friends lived on the hillside in nice homes. All middle-upper middle class. Also look into the Devore region, there are nice places there.

Hi Mopac1980,
Are you looking to move to the area? I am a Realtor in Calimesa (next to Yucaipa) and I can recommend Calimesa, Yucaipa or Redlands. It just depends upon what you're looking for besides "low crime."

I can "second" the North Park recommendation - Cal State University is here, and the Hillside (elementary) school is a lab school for the University so really good things are going on there. There's lots of availability here (not all are FBO's either here) and the general feel is very nice - even now. Some tagging from time to time - but there's a city group that is doing excellent work at eradicating those things upon notification of the need. Lots of people walk around here (exercise - both for people and their dogs, and to get to the stores; there's grocery within walking distance, for instance and it's safe to do so, even still - LOL!) and the views can be wonderful! Certainly the best part of town - YMMV.
