A Nice Place To Live but HOW??
Ok for the future or whatever, I planned to move somewhere in California that I could afford. Or where my family has been. Which is San Bernardino! I love it so far! It seems I could to travel to LA anytime I want but that's not the point. So, in the future I plan to move to this NICE place called Crest Haven Apartment Homes
check it out It's incredible beautiful considering most of the places I checked out in the city and also LA. Ok so since it's only going to be me, I am planning to pay off the single 1 bedroom apartment. It's only $795 and a $250 down deposit- probably gonna be less in the future what with all of California's housing and apartment pricing going down (At least that's what I heard). But I have an issue. My sister makes about $400 a week with a simple job at Six Flags. She could pay off her rent easily there in just 2 weeks! What kind of jobs could i get in 'Bernardino' that pays that much! I know with any job I might start off with minimum wage and only earn about $200 a week. But that's gonna take me a whole month! How am I gonna eat! How am I gonna get a bed or something! Pillows, food. Oh god. Any suggestions? And this is after college by the way. I could NEVER move from San Antonio to California and expect to afford to go to a university too? yeah...right. Anyways help!

San Bernardino is at the east 'end' of the Los Angeles Metro area. I wouldn't limit your job search to just San Bernardino. Also, if this is after college, why are you contemplating a minimum wage job?

Simple. People making $200-400 per week don't live on their own. They live with the parents or they share crappy apartments with many other people. Even $400/wk (assuming that's net) isn't really enough to live in an $800/mo apartment. Throw in gas, food, utilities, and everything else that makes life expensive and you're upside down real quick.

Yeah I don't know why I considered that. I guess I never actually thought that part out.

Yeah I was just gonna say that too. With no car, how do u get around? Are there like buses and trains?

You should be able to get financial aid to go to college but you would need to be in state for at least a year to pay the in-state rate, otherwise I don't know if it would be possible to get the full aid to cover the cost.

Rents are INCREASING since demand for apartments is increasing.

With the way the economy has been going, me and most of my friends are working low wage jobs...all with science degrees from UC Santa Barbara. Plus tuition is ridiculous in California. A UC education on average (housing, books, etc included) is now 25-26K IN STATE!!! Out of state is about 40k.
University of California - Admissions (http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/payingforuc/costs.html - broken link). Cal States are cheaper, but still not that great in price. About 20k in state and 30k out of state. Plus San Bernardino is not exaclty brimming with high paying jobs. You can commute to other places, but with some of the highest gas costs in the nation it makes it hard.
I say wait a bit till you get things worked out. Hope this helped.
