Looking into a new built to order home but we want to make an offer but we really dont know how low to go. The house will be brand new it takes about 4 months to build and its current price is $260,000 wE definintly want money to go towards upgrades(counter tops, floors). If you are looking for insight on Perris, go back to August 15th, and check out sandbar3000's post, 'Why do so many people say, "Oh, Perris?" I'm not sure if this is the kind of insight you're looking for, but if you are unfamiliar with Perris, you should read it and then make up your mind. Good luck to you!

I think for your budget you should research all the cities in your target area...there are other places you could buy that will appreciate much faster than Perris once the market recovers. Of course, I'm partial to Temecula...

I wouldn't recommend perris. there are other areas that have cheap housing. I really think that if you choose perris you will not be happy there once the new home excitement wears off. especially if you have kids. if you go a little farther south you will find that it's not unreasonable. schools are better neighborhoods are cleaner and there's not as much riff raff.

It depends on where you are moving to in Perris. We live in "Monument Ranch", which is about as far south as you can get. It's a good neighborhood, and is not in the Perris school district (bonus). Perris property taxes are extremely high. A good alternative is Menifee, which is nearby and is growing rapidly.

Sun City is 55+ and is in the "now" city of Menifee. Both of these areas are now considered Menifee since it was recently incorporated. Sun City is relatively small compared to the rest of Menifee.

Perris has come a long way. Check out the City of Perris website. I've lived in Perris for 6 years now in South Perris area. Bought a huge home with a huge front/back yard in 2002. Peaceful and love it here, we are close to the new Perris Crossing shopping center. There will be 2 Metrolink stations here soon, linking Perris to Riverside, OC and L.A. There is funding and a plan on the Perris website already. City of Perris has a surplus of $13 million due to frugal spending in the past so city id doing well in spite of the recession. My friends that live in Menifee, Sun City, and Hemet come to our WINCO Foods 24 hour grocery store to shop all the time. Across our street is Sun City already, Sun City is next to Menifee. Keepn an open mind. Property values are projected to go up here, city of Perris has been doing a lot of restoration and other projects, watch the videos on the city website. You made the right decision. Welcome to Perris. Ignore the snobs that think they are better because they live in Temecula or Murrietta. Perris became a city in 1911, a late bloomer but still booming. Unlike other snob cities that are hurting, looks good on the surface but are actually hurting.
