Post About Corona

We are considering to relocate in Corona for a new job and were wondering what areas should be avoided as dangerous to buy or rent a house.

Thanks a lot,
Robert

South Corona is very nice. Think Ontario Ave and south of that.

Central Corona is older and kind of run down. I'd stay away from that area. (6th street area).

North Corona is spotty. See below.

Corona Hills (McKinley & Promenade area) used to be very nice, but is starting to go south. There is a particular problem with a tagging crew "DGPK" in that area.

Corona Ranch (Hidden Valley Parkway area) is nicer than Corona Hills and is a little bit north of that area. It seems that the housing crisis is beginning to take it's toll on this area though. The "class" of people that have moved in recently isn't as nice as it used to be. I lived in Corona Ranch for the last 3 years by the way.

West Corona (Green River Road area) is nice.

Hope this helps you with your search.

So, when you say spotty, or going south, are you referring to the crime rate, or just the appearance of the properties?

I personally live in a very good area in central Wisconsin and may have an opportunity to work in the LA area. I will probably have to split my time between an Irwindale location and a Riverside location for the most part. I guess I'm just looking for a decent neighborhood that's relatively free of crime, but yet not too awful far away from shopping and entertainment.

i would stay closer to irwindale than riverside, it's easier to travel east in the am/west in the pm, than the opposite. corona to irwindale every morning would be a rough commute. you may consider the communities around where the 210 and 57 meet. Glendora comes to mind off hand, as well as San Dimas.

If you have to head to Irwindale frequently, but want to be in the Corona area, maybe consider the Eastvale area. My parents bought an awesome house last spring in that area for a steal. It's gotten even cheaper since then. Nice, new schools, etc. And it's near the 71, which you could hop on going north to take you to the 210. Look in the 92880 ZIP at the newer houses. Do you know the site Redfin? It's a great tool for checking out real estate listings in So Cal.

Yes, I agree about the comment regarding Eastvale. My husband and I are looking in that area and love the 71 fwy for commuting purposes to OC.

I think people are forgetting the Mountain Gate area of South Corona. Quiet and they have some of the best schools in the area.
