Median household income in Chino Hills is very high -- higher than any other city in the IE, and higher than a majority of cities in OC. Yes, most families are working class, but I would think there would be a nice restaurant or two to go to.

But I guess not

Estimated median household income in 2006: $100,394 (it was $78,374 in 2000)
Chino Hills $100,394
Irvine $84,270
Aliso Viejo $91,200
Laguna Beach $90,500

Hi sandiegan,
I think in the most part Chino Hills is one of those "modest" rich areas like Yorba Linda or Brea (except for the Shoppes that made it more posh). I think most of the wealth came from the transplants, highly educated doctor/lawyer types, or entrepreneurs with their own business. Supposively, according to the city, Chino Hills used to be a resort town for the rich to escape from LA/OC.

I'm not sure what you would consider as "fine" dining... but there are non-chain Italian restaurants and delis in the area. There's an Italian restaurant in the Chino Spectrum called Pizzaioli, that seems nice with both indoor and outdoor cafe style seating. The review on yelp seems alright.

Pizzaioli - Chino, CA 91710

Cafe Sevilla in Riverside is half decent
or if you're in Chino Hills, trek through Carbon Canyon to La Vie en Rose in Brea

We lived in Chino Hills for a couple years - nice town, but pretty bland in the way of entertainment / shopping / dining. Most of it is in Chino (although they built the new stuff of CH Pkwy) and its nearly all bland.

For some character, check out Claremont or even parts of La Verne for good, unique dining experiences.

You are right about Chino hills. It has always been the beverly hills of the valley of the dirt people. My family is friends with the city attorney for Chino and he lives up in 'the country'. Is that chino hills or diamond bar? i forget. Anyway most of the residents are lawyers, drs, a few ex celebrities, 1 famous rap star. Not much as far as 'fine dining' though. CLosest you can get is a notch below: PC Changs at the Shoppes, there is Wabi Sabi Steakhouse in the CHino SPectrum. Oh wait..there is a nice new steakhouse over at the Victoria gardens mall. forgot the name.

Yup... all we do is raise our arms, wave our sticks, and yell at the outsiders like sand people... and ride around on our wombats

I am not making this up Chuck.Never that term? How about Fontucky? Or Riverssipi! how about 'Co-chino' (spanish slang for pig)

Type the URL valleyofthedirtpeople.com and it redirects you to a wikipedia entry for the IE.

I just saw the sign today that BJ's is opening on Monday the 29th of September! It's located in "The Commons" on Chino Hills Parkway.

The Pei Wei and Lucille's Barbeque that are right next to BJ's don't have an opening date posted yet.

Lucille's BBQ is delicious! Always packed even on a week night. Victoria Gardens had a fish place (King's Fish House) next to the Crate and Barrel that had a crowd of people waiting to get in on a saturday night. Looked pretty good. Here's a link to the dining directory: Victoria Gardens Directory

I know it's in Rancho cucamonga...but driveable. And if you're looking to wet your appetite for good oriental food, La Puente houses Curry House....great Japanese place off of Colima and many many good Korean places. Just let me know what type of Korean and I can compile a list.

Locally, Pho 2007 in chino hills off of Chino Ave and Peyton has some of the best PHO I've had. Thai BBQ is always nice which is in the same plaza as Pho 2007.
