Default Need help from Apple Valley locals

I am looking at some land in Apple Valley in the Vicinity of Joshua (Yucca) Dr, Standing Rock Ave, Candlewood Rd & Thunderbird Rd. Is this a desirable area to build homes?

I have researched the parcel map through the county, and googled the maps. It's right outside new developed areas. Rancho Verde Elementary and Granite Hills High are nearby.

Any info about the area, schools? Is there a good area and bad area in Apple Valley? Anything I should know to stay away from?

Your input is very much appreciated .
sanda

Default What about the E-220 ?

Any input on the new higway E-220, the new High Desert Corridor? It will start at Adelanot through Apple Valley, but it is projected to connect Victor Valley to Antelope Valley in the near future...

The area you're looking at is a good area. They are developing the north end of town, north of Hwy 18, and extending Apple Valley road through to the 15 fwy. I would say anything north of hwy 18 and east of Dale Evans is prime property. Most of the schools are very good. Granite is better than AV High, The Lewis Center is there and is a Parent Choice school and has received many awards. Of all the desert communities I think IMHO that Apple Valley has done the best job of recruiting "big box" companies while maintaining a rural way of life. We're soon to be the next Thousand Oaks, whether that's good or bad is yet to be seen!

Apple Valley is definitly not desirable place to live, the high desert has horrible crime and heat, with nothing to do.

I used to live in Apple Valley and victorville. It was a pretty nice place. out of the rest of California, it was pretty cheap, if 250,000+ for a house is cheap. It was the high desert so kinda hot, and there wasn't much to do in AV, most of the time was spent in Victorville. One thing I sorta miss is In and Out Burger.... and Tom's Burger off of hwy 18. Kind of a dull place, but it depends on your view of a nice place. lets see... i am trying to remember an old nickname for a certain part of AV near Vista Campana Middle school... uhh, i think it was felony flats. yeah, b/c over there was where a-lot of rundown apartments were and just overall bad area. I liked Spring valley Lakes, oh and steak @ the lake, yum! well, I wish u the best of luck!

Default Whoah! Red Light!

OMG NO. Thunderbird, Joshua. That's the FELONY FLATS. Someone is trying to get over on you. That's a very troubled area. It's beyond saving. I lived off of Thunderbird for a year or so.

Umm.... You REALLY need to go see it for yourself. Hmmm, It's ... ... There is no word to describe the hopelessness and desperation. It's the epitomy of poverty.

You can feel it as soon as you drive into the area. It's ..... The worst place I ever lived in my whole life, by a lot.

If you're not convinced by the run-down apartments littered all over that little flatland area there, then strike up a casual conversation with a few of the locals. Not at the markets either but back in that neighborhood...

I couldn't even get my family to come visit me there and they only lived a few miles away ...

SANDA- as far as e-220 is concerened, dont hold your breath,if you over 30 youll be long dead before its completed.Apple valley is just another big city anymore,no mater what the town council wants to call it.Ive lived here for 23 years and seen it go from rural town to city.We have our crime, our bad areas, our drug labs and crooks just like any other city.

Default Good and Bad

definitely do your research and talk to an agent. There are some bad areas you want to stay away from and some flood zone issues to look out for.

I've heard that too... (Not necessarily meth, but definitely drugs)

I used to live in Hesperia and Victorville. Victorville was better, in my opinion, but I wasn't happy with the school systems in the high desert.
