Encore School, Victorville, CA
Hi, does anyone have any input on Encore school in Victorville, Ca?
We are moving to Victorville and I recently found out about this school and really want to enroll my child there. Only downfall is no bus transportation. The school says they have a car pool system set up with parents. I'm looking for some opinions from parents who have children in this school. I dread the though tof my child having to attend Silverado High school. Thanks!

good morning. Encore is a very good school, but it is located in Hesperia, just in case that would be a problem. Its a school for performing arts and in my opinion is the best middle/high school in the high desert by far. Registrations for next year are on November 3rd and the school is only accepting about 200 students for each grade. And once you have put in your registration packet, there are auditions.. But if you can get past all of that, i would strongly suggest this school to anybody.

Encore is the home away from home. My children go to the school and love it. Auditions were pretty easy, neither one of them had previous dance or singing, or any of that. They were excepted and love it. The school offers so many options for students to do that they spend more time there then at home. You soon after arriving and getting into school will relize they love it, when the ask to go to Saturday school. They just finished doing the play Cats and by all opions this was so great. Sold out of many shows and is planning on doing Annie next. Classes are alot harder then other schools. My kids have always been straight A's and here they are really working at getting good grades. Standards are higher by far. Safety is not an issue, Here they are not having any problems. There has only been two fights over the first semester and it is safe. The students learn and love all. I have children who use to only talk to thier race here color or race is not a issue it is do you dance, sing, play and instrument, or draw. The options and friends are endless. Low student teacher ratio allows for your student to be noticed for the things that only mothers usally notice. Second semester starts January12. They are excepting some students. If you are a parent with kids that need a safe, fun, and educational enviroment make the switch now you will be so happy. The kids will be happy.

Terrible school I cant believe parents would send their students their. Have you ever heard don’t judge a book by its cover. The school sounds great but don’t be bought out so quickly do some research and make sure this is the school you want to send your child here.

This is not a school to send your child to for academics. Same problems as any other jr./high school with favoritism but enhanced by the arts section. Dancing sucks not a place to send your child at all. The "Dean" of dance has 2 daughters here and plays favorites with them as well as allows them to call other students names as well as puts them down and doesnt do anything but laugh and support her childrens rude behavior. At competitions I am embarassed for them. They say the students get 20 hours a week of dance technique yet their performance does not reflect more then maybe 5 hours a week of dance training. Better luck with a dance studio.

Unfortunately I must agree with the negative posts. I have heard nothing good about this school. I have my daughters at a dance studio and thought of this school for them until I saw them perform. These young people do not have the technique needed for the competitions they are being entered at. THey say 20 plus hours of dance I am wondering exactly what kind of dance are they doing for these hours. I personally think they look like they maybe take 2 hours a week if that. Technique is realllllllly lacking for the girls to act as they do. This is not a place I would send anyone. From a parent at a well known competitive studio, these dancers need many many more hours of good technique as well as manner classes. The girl I have seen walking around wearing the pepto pink jacket needs an attitude adjustment. I dont even know that academics are given here. Just really not a place to go for good dance technique or lessons on good sportsmanship. Very much a disappointment. Should not even give this place a second thought. Dean's daughters act as if they run the place inside and at competitions. Really need to look at local studios for quality technique as well as how to work as a team and support each other as well as attitudes in public when wearing school/studio logo on cover ups. Very disappointing.

The school is horrible for academics. I know of at least 5 people that pulled their kids out of that school, including myself. If you don't care about academics but are interested in the performing arts, then good luck, your kids wont get attention unless you are related to the dean.

I must agree with all the negative comments...The griffins are rude, only favor their children and a few others. Teachers are racist, the office staff is unorganized. The griffins along with a select few run the school. No outsiders are welcome to join any functions- they treat you like your beneath them. Most parents have no clue how things are. My child loves the school but as a parent I'm not happy. Why send my child their for another 2 years.

A little fishy to me, all the negative posts are first time posters....? Someone is going to a lot of trouble to discredit this school... What gives...?
