I've lived in Chino Hills most of my life growing up and loved it. My husband and I are considering moving to Rancho Cucamonga. Is it a nice place to live? What are the benefits? Down sides? Any thoughts/opinions would be appreciated.

Rancho Cucamonga overall is a nice place to live. The city overall is newer, cleaner (in some ways not much different from Chino Hills). It is a good city to raise a family in. There are plenty of shopping (big box stores), the Victoria Gardens, plenty of restaurant selections. I would say Rancho Cucamonga is definitely one of the nicer places to live in the Inland Empire. Possible downsides is that it can get quite hot especially in the summers and the smog.

Default rancho

rancho is nice...though it is alot further away from the other counties like la and orange...which is a major downfall in my opinion. it just feels far from the rest of the world...but i guess it all depends on where you will be working too. the surrounding cities are okay...the city has built up alot over the last couple of years, and victoria gardens has been a nice addition. the only thing is not everyone who goes to the shops at victoria gardens are from rancho...many are from outlying cities...and it may not always be the best crowd. i remember when ontario mills first opened, it was really nice and everyone loved going there...and within a couple of years...i noticed a change in the clientele there. lots of teens hangin out b/c there isnt anything else to do there. my gf is a 2nd grade teacher in rancho and she says there are alot of young families out there. some of the neighborhoods are masterplanned...which i think is nice. it can get SUPER hot there too...so if you wont have a pool, hopefully there will be a community one that you can take a dip in. good luck!

Expensive. Most of the IE, namely Riverside, Rancho, Upland, Ontario, Redlands, is way pricey. Everyone I know that lives down there are paying nothing less than a 4 digit figure just for a 2-bedroom apt/house.

You have to compare incomes with the cost of housing, not just "I can get a place in _________ for so much less." I mean, I can have a palace in Turkmenistan for the same price as my dinky Burbank SFR...

worst will be the wind season, there are times you won't be able to enjoy outdoors for one straight week and this happens from last week of october till february of the next year. also down side is the high property tax for houses close to the mountains (mostly newer ones)
