I don't own a gun, but if the government ever tried to overturn the Second Amendment, I'd go get one post haste.

Sorry to disappoint you but, armed robbery is the last thing on my mind, guess 20+ years of military service and my current job in Homeland Security (Former US Customs) sort prevents me from even entertaining that thought.

I did notice you did not respond to my other points, guess I am right on those,,,,,,,,,,,

MyFox Dallas | Dog Walker Kills Armed Teen Robber, Police Say (http://www.myfoxdfw.com/myfox/pages/News/Detail?contentId=8100189&version=8&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=3.2.1 - broken link)

A man walking his dog in Terrell on Wednesday fatally shot an armed 17-year-old robber, police said.

The incident happened at about 10:20 p.m. in Ben Gill Park in the 100 block of Lions Club Lane where, police said, a group of teen robbers surrounded the man.

According to investigators, Markee Lamar Johnson pulled out a gun and the 47-year-old man, a licensed concealed handgun owner, fired shots.

The 17-year-old Terrell High School student was struck in the head and died at Parkland Hospital. His weapon was recovered at the scene and later determined to be stolen during a separate offense in Terrell, according to police.

Police said they would not likely file charges against the man.

"I think in this particular situation, it would be a clear example of someone exercising their rights to protect themselves under the law," Capt. A.D. Sanson said.

Three other teen suspects fled the scene in a vehicle that was recovered in the 300 block of S. Park Street, police said.

Police identified the the other suspects and arrested one of them. Ryan Scott Patterson, 17, is charged with aggravated robbery.

The robbery victim, who did not want to be identified, was not injured.

I don't think they're doing that to rid the populace of guns. Clearly there are lots of people who are keeping theirs. I don't feel threatened by the government's trying to motivate poor people to give up their illegal guns. Most of the worst crimes come from those guns.

Are you really naive enough to believe criminals are turning in their guns? . The only guns they'll turn in are the ones they've used in a shooting so it can't be traced back to them. These "buy-backs" are just another feel good scam. They don't reduce crime any more than other gun-control measures. In other words they do not work.

I don't get your problem with this. Do you think that sensible, responsible people who value having their guns for hunting and home protection are lured into giving them up for gift cards to Walmart? Would you do that? Do you believe that any of the pro-gun people in threads like these would? I don't get that impression at all. I know I wouldn't.

My problem with it is that it's a phony deal that makes some people think it's actually doing something to stop crime. I have this thing about people lying to me and thinking I'm stupid enough to believe them. It's one of those things that the anti gunners use as their "reasonable gun control" measures when all it is is a bunch of BS. It does nothing to control crime so why are they doing it?
