Do you lie about where you live?
One of my neighbors told me I that when she and her husband lived in a less desirable area/city, and it bordered one of the nicer cities, they would tell people that they lived in that nicer city, until they were able to afford to live in a better area.
What do you think about people lying about where they live? Does it really matter? I'm just curious to read your comments.

It does seem to go along with the vanity of "we need people to think we are doing better than we are" thing that seems to overwhelm California in general, and the inland area maybe more.
doesnm't really matter to me where a person lives, but if i am trying to get to their home and can't get the address from mapquest, or other mapping site, then it becomes a little annoying

Nope. I freely admit Fontana, and even go so far as to narrow it down to South Fontana, lest they assume I live in the nicer North part of town. I like it here in the barrio and don't care what anyone else thinks.
As far as other people lying about where they live because they're ashamed of it, that's their problem. Whatever floats their boat. It's not for me to judge.

I live in a nice area, so no need to lie. There was a big to-do here a while back by some lady who moved from Newport Beach into a place called Montage that was in Cathedral City, but was bordered by Rancho Mirage. She petitioned the city of Rancho Mirage and created a big stink about having Montage annexed into Rancho Mirage - so she could have a more prestigious address - because God forbid she rolled into the 'hood from Newport Beach and has to tell people she lives in Cat City!
She was turned down and Montage is still in Cathedral City.
My feeling is if you want the more prestigious address, then by golly - move there!!!

Yep! I agree with you 100%. I grew up in Compton, and when I was old enough and could afford to leave, I did. But, I proudly tell people that I grew up in DA HOOD, Compton, CA.

I tell people that I grew up in Moreno Valley. Surprisingly, many people have no clue where that is. So I tell them I grew up near UCR (3 miles away from my house). Then some people have kind of a point of reference.

Don't forget Edgemont....LOL. When we first moved there it was only Sunnymead and Edgemont, and for "the" address, you had to live in Sunnymead.
When it incorporated into MoVal, we moved out to LaQuinta.....
