I fully admitted to only living there for 5 years. And only said in those five years (2002-2008) I never encountered any gang violence. Sure, it is there, but I guess I just don't hang around the dicey areas. And make no mistake, almost all cities have dicey areas. I had no reason to hang around City Park or the other run down areas of 6th Street. It is an ugly city. There are some ugly people hanging around. But there are nice areas of Corona too. Yes, there are gangs/bad areas - but they can be avoided. That is my only point.

Exactly. And that was certainly not an area I frequented either.

I have NO plans to EVER return to live in Corona (I have plenty of other reasons to dislike the place), but I never felt less safe there than I did in Riverside, or Anaheim, or Irvine, or many other nearby locales.

I feel safer in Corona than in Riverside or Anaheim - that is for sure. Irvine though? I haven't felt safer anywhere than in Irvine (lived there for 4 years).

re: Gangs in Corona

I have friends with family members that were in Corona gangs. See: Street Gangs Discussion on Bloods, Crips, 18th Street, MS 13, Florence and other gangs Forum • View topic - 1 INSANE x EMPIRE 3

Murrieta and Temecula have one gang between them - Crown Hill Tiny Rascals, a small Asian gang. There are a few others in the area that are dormant (around Pujol st) but aren't listed. Look at the gangs listed for Corona and the cities surrounding it...

Anaheim is less safe, but still relatively safe. Riverside is actually a REALLY safe city. Esp for its size.

I'll give you that - Riverside has some really nice parts, average areas and then total craphole neighborhoods. I've had more problems in Riverside than in Anaheim/Santa Ana. Riverside is really like a mini-LA. You can drive from a really nice suburb and 5 minutes later have shady characters staring into your window.

Both are good areas. Every town has there own trash hole, gang infested creeps. However, I think both are good cities. If you want to be closer to OC & LA live in Corona. Want to be close to South OC/SD live in Temecula. Love both places, sea breeze blows in all the time in Riverside, I got pictures of today with fog rolling in, I'll post them when I get a chance. San Bernardino & I think parts of Moval is the towns that gets no fog, thats why I hate to live there. Just need that cool air at night to roll in to refresh my life. Corona has a lot more mixture of cultures and ethnicity. Temecula is mostly white ethnicity, and hometown feel. I don't want to be racist but both towns are good places, have cousins living in both. Smog is mostly a problem in San Bernardino basin county, where I can get asthma. Riverside has cleaner air now with all the trees and oridiences. There is an exception on some days where it just blows in out of no where, mostly during hot humid summer days. Anywhere in Riverside county is good to me.
