Poor Lake Elsinore-chill on the bad mouthing
Seems so many are against it. but you know Temecula is just as bad in some areas even Murrieta, even Wildoamr, Heck Canyon Lake had a serial killer living behinds its gates not too long ago., and that CL water is just as rank in some areas if not worse- yes I know been there almost bought there.
But the facts are a city can change and LE has been doing so very well lately. New homes are being built on property that is being bought up developers and moving the druggies and crack freaks out, that are now going to Temecula areas...
Lake Elsinore High has become a school to be reckeoned with the sports the kids, really great teachers.. Moving from the OC where metal detectors and gang swat teams were a daily patrol at the High Schools and Jr High even elementary ,, living in Wildomar has becoem a great sigh of relief and only getting better.
never would I live in Temecula it is over built, crowded and traffic is congested even on weekends... no way. sorry. For those of you that live there and want to bad talk our neck of the area remember you have a farther commute, to the 91 or Ortega then we do and have to congestion to get on the freeways on work mornings far more then us.
I remember when Temecula was sheep herds and llama farms*- now its house to house to house. sad

Lake ELsinore
The crap about the gang activity is bull... We have a very low crime rate in elsinore and if you are coming from the LA area it will seem like a pretty quiet place. If you are looking to buy now through 2009 is the best time, the city is expanding , a new school goes up every few months. We have new track homes taking up all extra space. There are plenty of attractions that are good for the city economically. And if you check out the city's website you can see all the plans to clean up the areas that arent that nice. For the most part Elsinore is a very nice town. I recommend checking it out for yourself because all the comments you will see are form people who cam to this town and made it bad here for themselves! And dont forget plenty of celebrities own homes out here in tuscany hills, which is a community in lake elsinore and Canyon Lake, which is full of rich snobs.

Advice please on "re" planting back to So Cal - Lake E
Any new comments or advice welcome here. I am a SoCal native BUT have been gone for 25 years - family and friends still there. Have been used to the more rural way of life. Strongly looking at LE area. How safe is it to hike - with dogs - in the Caspers Regional Park right off the 74 or at the Lake Skinner Rec area? May need to commute up to Mira Loma straight up the 15 and skipping the 91 altogether? Just how close did the Cleveland Ntl Forest fire "breathe" onto Lake E area? Please what is meant by the north Lake E area? I am lookimg for at least a 1 acre parcel - Riverside County requires that if you have more than 4 dogs... have found some affordable places BUT they are manufactured. I keep reading pretty bad comments - I would not be going there for the Lake per se - prefer hiking in the forest but Canyon Lake (outside the "gates" ) and Quail Valley seem worse iinsofar as the posts go. Do not have children in school. Just want to be somewhere safe and quiet.
Is Gant Way just off of broad St (seems out of the way) too near the "wrong side of the tracks?"
Please understand - I am not used to "bad people" at ALL OR crime.
Thanks a bunch. Flying out late August.

Historic District can be ok if your on the opposite side from the lake which is the otherside of W.Graham. That side of the lake attracts the Latino fishers, who usually dont speak English and are VERY rude. Talk with the neighbors make sure they speak English and browse their property. All that really matters is who lives on your block and the school might be good, it looks ok but my kid doesn't go there. My child has a intra district transfer to a school in my moms neighborhood, she lives in Canyon Hills. I live in Downtown Lake Elsinore, my neighbors dont speak English and are very rude I just learn to live with it and make the cops my buddies.

Ok my own post without quoting. My history with Lake Elsinore is as follows. Moved into a brand new community with my mom in Canyon Hills in 11.2002. This year, 2008, I moved to Downtown Lake Elsinore, where I work as well. My house is new built in 2006 and I rent it. There are homeless people but there war veterans who rarely talk to anyone and they live in halfway houses and walk the streets alot. The meth users, I can tell who they are by their apperance but I dont ever see them doing it and they never do anything crazy or try to talk to me. I have never spotted drug users. Machado St. has a bad side and then the other side is the good side, the bad side it the worst neighboorhood in Lake Elsinore. The lake has improved and will continue to improve. It does not smell anymore and my co-workers say it use to, it also used to have dead fish but not anymore. They dump fish into the lake now every week and during the summer which is now its packed with people. Lake Elsinore is very into baseball, my son plays. But he plays in Canyon Lake which has a nice field all supported by the parents. I have no problems at my place of business, all very nice people. Do a research on the area before moving here, talk to people, visit business', check out schools.

My husband, daughter and I just moved into the area of Lake Street & Mountain. Many new families moving into foreclosed homes. We got a great deal on a 4-bedroom. My daugher just started Terracotta Middle School. So far, so good. It's a very pretty school and is well-maintained. The friends she made at the Boys & Girls Club seem to come from nice families. Our neighbors are nice and we like feeling like we live a bit off the beaten trail. The lake is nice and is well-patroled by police officers. I would stay clear of Lakeland Village (which I don't think is actually part of Elsinore city limits, but I may be wrong). I've been impressed by the city's response to grafitti and we haven't had any problems at all.
