chinocal is on a distinguished road
I've lived in Chino Hills and currently just south of South Corona in Elsinore. I'm no expert at all, but I feel like there's cleaner air where I live now. I can see more stars at night and I've experience very few smoggy days. It could be the almost constant breeze. I'm not sure, but I do notice a difference.

The further South you go, the cleaner/clearer the air is. This is due to the geographic features of southwestern county Riverside. It is separated from the LA/OC/SB/Riverside basin and has coastal breezes from North San Diego through a gap in the terrain (Rainbow Gap). This coastal air serves to provide clearer skis (along with distance from the LA basin) and also cools the southern part of the county down considerably in the hot summer months. The actual temperature might be the same but the cooler air breezes makes the area *feel* cooler. It also allows the wineries to thrive.
