Boron is out in the middle of the desert. There's a federal prison out there, but not much else.

If you build near Boron, I hope you don't mind summer temperatures of 38 to 43C and higher. You do realize it is the Mojave Desert, and that's not for everyone. Personally, I love the desert and could live in the Boron/Mojave/California City area with no problem, and someday will.

Bakersfield is also very hot in the summer, and the air quality isn't all that good.

It will be cooler than that during the day during winter. It will be more like anywhere from 8C-19C during the day and anywhere from -8C to 3C at night. It's 3C in Boron right now. Boron gets pretty cold during the winter, and feels even colder if the wind is blowing. I spent the night once in my car near Boron and the temperature dropped to -12C, so it can get cold there. They can even get some rare snow, which is beautiful in the desert.

sound perfect for me.. just want to escape the worst cold climate from here..
also its quite near LA and Vegas..
was to Barstow and Calico a few years ago and loved the area..near to everything
for me its allmost like a suburb to LA but in the same time you get the country feeling..
and the cost of the land since cheap..
about the low cost.. what isnt that higher?
i have seen several auctions on ebay. like 0.5 acres for 500 $ or so..

Is Sweden's climate really that bad? It probably is milder overall than some parts of the US, I would think.

Yeah, Boron is 2.5 hours or so to LA, and about 3 hours to Vegas.

If you think Barstow is close to everything, you'll be fine in Boron.

Boron is not a suburb of LA, it completely relies on itself, people passing through, and surrounding areas economically.

The real estate market in California has taken a huge nose dive, due to its inflated bubble bursting. Now is the time to buy, IMO.

I would go through a licensed real estate agent to purchase any property, and would be wary of sites like ebay when purchasing property.

If it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is too good to be true. Caveat emptor.
