DO NOT even consider living, working, or playing in SB. I wish I could elaborate on the qualifications for this opinion, but leave it at that. Read up on the crime and dysfunctional city politics and that is reason enough. IT is a VERY VERY unsafe place to be doing anything! Look to Redlands, Riverside, or Ontario...

You didn't mention Fontana. Did you know that the crime index is lower in Fontana than all three of the cities you mentioned, according to the latest data accessed here on City-Data?

Fonatana has done a nice job boosting it's image and crushing crime over the past 5 years...Red/Riv/Ont....and Yucaipa would still be my choices. Stats do not always tell the whole story. I would follow the UCR Stats right off the FBI website...that whole "per 100,000 residents" thing can look uglier than reality. Overall quality of life and caliber of people mingling about is important IMO...not crime stats alone.
