thank you Narfcake.. and thank you all for the comments..
if you didnt answer. i wouldnt know a s***..!
anyhow i have during the time bought a piece of land in north east AZ..
but im still looking for something in CA,, untill now i like most the area around Barstow..Boron etc..
here in Sweden the cult of old american cars from the 50s its very big and so the old route 66..
i have an idea to buy some land around there and sell it to people here in Sweden..
I think it can be done.. lots of Swedes have houses in Thailand..
and USA its 1000 times better then Thailand.. at least we understand when you talk..:-)

If you're interested in land around old Route 66, I'd look in Helendale, Oro Grande, La Delta and Bryman.
They all sit astride a well preserved 36 mile section of the original Mother Road Route 66.

Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. I see Bob has moved on to greener pastures, but just in case someone is perusing these threads, I offer the following pic as proof positive that Salton Sea will someday soon return to its glorious past as a major resort spot.

I know this thread is old, but I just had to comment. I had the unfortunate luck to spend my childhood growing up in Bombay Beach. Trust me when I say that this place just needs to die and stay dead. I left in 1998 and haven't looked back. I still know people that live there, and they say it has become a place where all the druggies live. I can remember when I was a kid how the tourists would come, and by the time I left, no one hardly came.

I wish that someone had good pictures of the Salton Sea back when it was at its peak. It was way too hot whenever we were there as kids. Lots of fun times water sking there. I would not want the land now if someone gave it to me.

thank you for all info..
but wonder if there is any plan from the county or state to
re-devolope the area..?
as far i can see on some site there is plans to lower the salt level in the lake..
if that was possible i think more people will use the area for recreation and doing so lower the criminality, drogs etc...

Right now our state can't afford to keep all state parks open and staffed, let alone redevelop Salton Sea ...
Eventually, yes, it might be redeveloped. One problem though, is that there's no guarantee that your waterfront lot will remain waterfront when the state is done.
