So how is DHS going to fill the holes where these individuals/houses had been? It is one thing to clean out; it's fully s/t else to have the gaps filled in. Will this now create an exodus to DHS by persons looking for land? Or will it be an oppt'y to establish more gangs, or merely replace those who were there?
I love the idea, but I hope this is followed up by a plan B. I did not see any mention of the same in what I briefly read.

It's not the poor we're worried about. Everyone in the valley would like to clean up DHS and get rid of the criminals and gang bangers. DHS is a blight on our beautiful valley! There's really no good reason why it has to be this way.

This is the best news I have heard in a long time. DHS has been so crime ridden the last few years. My mom and dad live in a gated community there, on the north end of town, they dont even do business in DHS, they head down to Palm Springs...my mom emailed me the article about the raids, you know once a city or county puts an injunction on gang activity, it really does help. Razing the gangbanger houses is a start..it's not going to turn overnight. I could not believe how long and how much planning went into this raid. My mom said she saw and heard the blackhawk helicopters but didn't know what was going on.

Good going, DHS and Riverside County!

It is inspiring indeed. I wonder how they will broadcast availability and changing the culture? A utuility tax is good. Are the business landowners willing to do their part in creating l/t rental agreements at reduced costs to new business arrivals? Will they as well invest in the rehab? And will it be worth it to the people of the area, to return to keep their money in their city and do business in a downtown area? How can the gov't and business people make it attractive so others will come? Do these individuals have the wherewithal to invest in such activities in today's economy?
I still think it's great work, and I too applaud the efforts that went into making this happen.
