Jan Martin will say whatever he can to get a lighter sentence. Renee was 4-10 & martin is 6-2. I was told his mother partly blames renee for her murder. Laura martin was caught in 2 lies. She thought her conversation on the phone with her loser son was private & not recorded. She calls herself a christian when its obvious shes a damn liar just like her racist son. Shes pathetic just like her son & husband (paul martin). Her husband testifys this tues. They are a disgrace to the jehovah witnesses in banning,ca. They used to go to the kingdom hall in beaumont (where renee went) but switched to the banning one. Hmmmmm....i wonder why. Jan, laura & paul martin will burn in hell for their actions.

thank you for your posts, no one can hanestly feel your pain but just know that as Jan's uncle I want him convicted in the 1st degree and hope he gets the max setance...only wish he could get the electric chair or be hung so he could feel the terror and live with that for at least a few minutes....

Closing arguments are today & the jury will deliberate most likely late today or tomorrow. I havent been to the trial but i do want to be in court to hear the verdict & see martins expression on his face. I dont know when that will be (most likely by july). At least this will finally come to a close after over 7 yrs (3-28-2003).

UPDATE*** Today, June 8. 2010 the birthday of renee pokres, the jury found the defendent GUILTY OF 1ST DEGREE MURDER. Jan michael martin (age-25) will spend the rest of his life in a ca state prison. After 7.2 yrs justice is finally served. Sentencing is scheduled for 7-7-10 but that most likely will change (aug). Renee would of been 46 today. The san bernardino county district attorney alex martinez & his staff did a excellent job. The jury felt very very sorry for renee & they COMPLETELY rejected all the lies & excuses that the psychopath jan martin made up for why he stabbed renee 26 times to death. I partly blame the parents (paul & laura martin) for renees death. They will answer to a "higher up" someday for their actions (just like their son). RIP renee & happy birthday.

I guess we can say, it is a birthday to remember. I don't want to say, to celebrate because your family can celebrate the verdict but not make up for the loss. I am glad he will get what is coming to him.
Eagle, I understand how you can partly blame his parents, but no matter what, as adults we do know right from wrong.
We had a tragic thing happen in our family last week. One of my nephews committed suicide and his brother is carrying the quilt. Yes, his brother did some horrible things (this is from what family is telling me, I am not there as it did happen in Ca) but his brother isn't responsible for his death. No one is responsible except the person who commits the crime or in this case takes his won life.

Nita i sorry for your loss. I wish people would seek help instead of committing suicide. As for the parents of jan martin they could of prevented this. They chose not to dislose vital info to my family. They claim to be christians. DISCUSTING!

Eagle - I had a feeling the DA would get a 1st degree conviction! So happy for your family that this part is finally over and you can put this behind you. I know you will never, ever forget and there is no such thing as "closure" but at least now you can have sopme peace knowing this monster is never going to be free to do this to someone else.

I am very happy to hear that Jan got 1st degree murder, that most likely means that he will not see the light of day in the outside world again. Just for the record Paul martin is not Jan's father but is part of the reason Jan turned out the way he did, I place Jan's mom Laura at the head of the line, I have known her for 29 years and she has been a twisted ***** from day one. Her Idea of a fun time was to run around on her first husband (jan's father) with everything in town, her father-in law caught her with a deputy sheriff in nor cal while her husband was working nights to provide for her and Jan ( Jan was 5-6 at the time) where she had left Jan at home alone, she left Aubrey and moved south in search of a sugar daddy, found Paul, they got married and she got rich, jan got the shaft and used it to twist reality to the point where your sister was brutaly murdered. My family is heart sick for your family's loss, nothing can bring your sister Renee back but at least Jan cannot do this to anyone else in free society.

a6gto....if anyone knows the martins its you. What they have done should be criminal. They get the worse parents award. It will be awhile yet until martin goes to state prison. He made his bed & now he has to sleep in it. Paul & laura martin are rich & rude snobs. UGH!!!
