Drive time from Hesperia to Mid SGV anyone know?
We're considering buying a place up in Hesperia. We've been going back and forth between there and Corona/Riverside. Anyone commute from Hesperia to say....Monrovia/Arcadia? Trying to get a realistic estimate of the average commute from there and yahoo and google only seem to give best case scenarios.

62.7 mi – about 1 hour 7 mins (up to 2 hours 40 mins in traffic)
Sound pretty ugly.

Best to ride with someone so you can use the carpool lane, there are spots on the 210 where it becomes a parking lot Monday - Friday after 3:30. Also on Friday's after 3:00, it can be H-E-L-L as you may already know on the I-15 too with people going to Vegas and Havasu sharing your commute and adding extra time. An hour and 15-20 minutes minimum I'd say, depending on where in Hesperia you want to live.

I make the commute Monday through Thursday from the Victorville to the Fontana/Ontario/Rancho Cucamonga area. Starting at about 6:10am or so, I'm at the I-15/SR-210 interchange around 6:50am. Traffic coming down the 'hill' is nothing...you can easily do 80mph (or faster if you need CHP attention... ).
Anyway, at that interchange, traffic slows to around 40mph. I don't know what happens after Milliken (if you're on the 210) or Foothill (if you're on the 15). I have a former coworker who lives off of Haven Avenue and he says it takes between 20-30 minutes to get to San Dimas. Add whatever time it takes to get from San Dimas to Monrovia/Arcadia and I figure you're looking at about (at least) 1hr and 40 minutes. Of course, as you get closer to the 'urban core', traffic increases and speeds are slower.
The reverse commute would be similar. And Fridays on I-15 northbound, as someone already mentioned, is not a recipe for funtimes. I NEVER do anything down the 'hill' on Fridays if I know I am heading up the 15 in the afternoon. Just to give you an idea (and this is a little off-topic), I had a lunch date on a Friday in Torrance. It took me about 3 HOURS to get home. If you work Fridays, remember that...SERIOUSLY.

That again, is if you are riding in the carpool lane on the 210 and if you also get lucky and don't hit the traffic on I-15 that bottlenecks near Glen Helen. But, *ahem* let me know if you decide to do it and I'll let you know of a little secret escape route off of the 15 to get around that spot that most people don't know about.

If you work like 0600-1430 you should be fine.
On the way back home just off the 15 exit at whatever that lytle creek exit is called if traffic is backed up and go parallel to the freeway for a mile or two. If the GPS shows traffic on the 15 backed up all the way to the 210 just go straight and I honestly forgot the name of the street, but its that lytle creek street and that actually goes all the way down to the 210.

So we bought a home yesterday. We ended up going a little further up and buying off of 395 and Bear Valley. Good news is my coworker just moved to Adelanto so I have a car pool buddy which should save gas and let us use the carpool lane on the 210

Going up the hill is always worse on Friday's because you are taking the main road to Las Vegas, so you are in line with all those on their way to give their money away...

femme,
thanks for the offer. I've heard of this fabled route before. supposedly it lets you skip all the vegas traffic if I'm correct.
