Default Rancho Cucamonga vs. Etiwanda?

Hello!

My mom and I are recently looking into some of the new communities in the Rancho Cucamonga/Etiwanda area, specifically, the Canela at Vintner's Grove and the Amador on Route 66. I've read up on some other threads about Rancho Cucamonga area, but I still have some questions regarding the area, since I've spent my entire life in the San Gabriel valley area and never really visited Rancho Cucamonga that often (or Inland Empire in general....)

I was hoping to get some suggestion to the following questions:

- Which school district is better (in terms of quality of education, teachers, API, etc.), Cucamonga or Etiwanda?
- Gang activity? I've read on some thread that there are gang activities in the area, but is it far or close to the two places I listed above?
- General safety of the town: As I said, I live in San Gabriel valley all of my life, and I was wondering about the safety of the town and the crime rate.... Is it safe to live there? Or must there be bars and metal doors?

These are some questions I have for now... I might have more as I research deeper into the area, but that's it for now. Thank you very much for all of your help!

I moved to Rancho last year and while I can't speak specifically to the properties you're looking at, I've found it to be a safe area and haven't noticed any outward signs of gang activity in the area I'm in. I've never lived in an area that can be classified as suburbia (big city for most of my life), but I imagine that most of Rancho fits this bill. I'm sure that the more tenured posters can inform more about these specific areas you are investigating.

It is newer comunity (rancho cucamonga) and i notice that the city and people there have quite a motivation probably more money also to keep it up keep it growing and it is moving up fast. I would bank on Rancho Cucamonga, honestly. Etiwanda has been let to run down more than other surrounding areas. Like fontana near by with the left over industrial areas. Why? Not much effort there to clean it up, not fast anyhow.
Haven't you driven the two areas? Thats about all it would take for me to decide myself.
Ten minutes through the streets and you shouldn't have an issue. If your undecided don't move, if you do not have to. The market is rough, do more research. But then again I would not live where you say you do now! Never! Sorry. Do you have to stick to those two choices of cities? Think about it more. Good luck!

Hello Iseulde,

Did you move to Rancho Cucamonga/Etiwanda area yet? I am currently living in Arcadia with my family and they recently found a nice and cheap house (much cheaper compare to the houses in Arcadia) in Rancho Cucamonga. They plan to buy it, but are very concerned with the schools qualities and the safety issues too. If you have found out more about it, do you mind sharing it with me? Thanks!!!

Hi Zhina,

No, I have not. The house I'm looking at has not release a new phase yet, so I don't have any comparison as of now. However, I know exactly how expensive Arcadia is. lol I think the property I'm looking at the school is the Chaffey Joint HS district, which is the Ontario school not the Cucamonga school. Just from what I see on greatschools.net, it seems that the Cucamonga school is slightly better than Etiwanda. But, these are still 3rd-party opinions, not my own. Good luck to you!
