SB has some extremely dangerous parts. I don't know if you're still browsing but come back on here and list some areas where you're looking. Avoid the west side and donwtown at all costs.

Stay north of Highland Ave. I would reccommend the University District and the Devore District near Cal-State SB....you can get enployment at the new San Bernardino International Airport. search San Bernardino in Wikipedia for weather and other neighborhoods.

I myself considered moving to San Bernardino for school next Fall but I went against it simply because every time I'm there I feel like I'm going to be killed. I mean granted, I just go through I-10 and usually stop off in SB to get gas but it's really a dreary place. What a smog-ridden dump. When people say San Bernardino is the armpit of Southern California, they're truly not kidding.

There's so many other nice parts of SoCal and even the Inland Empire you can go to.. I don't know why you would choose SB.

Smile Any nice areas in San Bernardino?

My daughter and her boyfriend currently live in an apartment in Solana Beach. They are attempting to purchase their first condo/townhouse. They are both former Long Islanders who transferred to California.

I notice that the San Bernardino area is not in the same socio-economic as Solana Beach. They both work in San Diego and wish to live within 25-30 minutes from San Diego, preferably north of San Diego.

Is there an affordable yet nice area where condos/townhouse in the $350K - $450K range at all? I don't want my daughter who is not familiar with the various communities in San Diego area to wind up in a semi-ghetto area, dodging bullets at the grocery store.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciatede

San Bernardino is nowhere near San Diego...It's roughly 90 minutes north of San Diego.

The closest inland cities to SD are Temecula, Murietta, Menifee, Wildomar, and Lake Elsinore to a certain extent. (Temecula being the cloest at roughly 40-60 minutes from downtown San Diego).

Wow this is the first time I have ever heard of anyone wanting to move to San Bernardino. People only want to leave San Bernardino. I suggest you re-think your move unless you like high crime, smog, ghettos, aand feeling secluded in the middle of a town that is going to ... well ... hell. There are NO jobs. Unless you have considered working at Mc Donalds? Its a HORRIBLE place. How do I know? I lived there for 13 years due to my fathers job. Luckily, my family has good money, we lived in the best area in SB- Valencia ave North of Highland Ave. Its a pretty little street, and gets nicer the farther you drive up towards 40th. Please please reconsider SB. Anywhere near it for that matter. redlands isnt bad, its where my parents live now, but even then, they cant wait to get out. The whole area is just.... nothing.

San Bernardino is 2 hours north of San Diego.

No it's 90 minutes. According to mapquest it's actually 100 minutes to southern San Diego. I've done the drive a lot.

Plus, Northern San Bernardino is not bad at all. It's actually really nice with wide, tree lined streets and housing that was built before 1990. Downtown SB is not a good place, as is the Westside.

There are no jobs in California period. For that matter, most of the nation. We are in a deep recession.

Look, I understand your views on the IE, but try to be a little objective.

Yep, though San Berdoo wouldn't be my first choice, it has some nice areas and isn't 2 hours from San Diego. I do think the person who mentioned her daughter wanting to buy has no idea where it is in relationship to S.D. and I agree about Britttny.
