Chino Hills is a nice city. The problem is that it is turning into there neighbor slightly to the west of them. A city by the name of Diamond Bar
It is becoming a city over ran with development. And a lot of congestion.
There is room to build even more housing which will cause even more overcrowding. This will happen unless the city governs a no growth plan.
This will likely not happen since more growth means more tax revenue.
Driving in Chino Hills at rush hour is like diamond bar bumper to bumper
traffic. Now lets discuss the Diamond Bar drug problem. You may ask how does this effect Chino Hills. Let me try and explain. Diamond Bar Blvd runs from pathfinder road and through the city. Diamond Bar Blvd turns in to Mission Blvd at temple Which in turn is now Pomona. Please see crime and and drug related crime for the city 2005 and 2006. Chino hills and diamond bar are butted up against Pomona.
And actually the worst part of the Pomona is the neighbor hood just north of Chino hills next to Phillips Ranch. There is a small enclave of gangs and drug houses by the hand full. Remember the cop that was shot next to the Humane society a few years back. That gang member lived in that
neighborhood.
On weekends they drive down mission Blvd in Pomona south bound across temple into Diamond Bar. This is where they sell there drugs to the bored rich kids lined up in parking lots of retail stores that line Diamond Bar Blvd. Its a complete stop and shop. And of course "the I was here tagging left behind".
Which I must say Diamond Bar keeps up with the removal. Now lets see what they do in Chino Hills.
They the Pomona Gangs, Drug Dealers take the same route they proceed down Mission Blvd until they get to the corner of mission and the 71 they then go down the 71 and exit Grand. they then go to the shopping area and distribute. Then they proceed up Grand Ave west which turns into Diamond Bar. Its a complete circle.
Now once again Chino Hills is a nice city. If you don't mind living on top of each other. Lot size for homes is very very small.Unless you live in the older part of Chino Hills. I would still try city's where they have enacted a no growth plan. Or have been built out. Some citys I would try San Dimas, La Verne, Covina (Charter Oak Area). Glendora, Upland,Claremont, (Must eat at Walters in the village) All these city's I mentioned are small quaint towns that have tried very hard and succeeded in keeping a small town atmosphere.
If you like living in a fish bowl Chino hills would be a good place to start your new life in Cali. If you want to go to the aquarium living try one of the city's I mentioned. If you come to visit and need suggestions where to stay. where to eat. where to have some fun let me know. I can send you some suggestions that way. 4th generation San Gabriel Valley/Inland Empire Resident. Lovin the I.E
Oh by the way Chino which is next to Chino Hills. Dont speed in that city they tend to pull you over and shoot you for no apparent reason. Just thought you might want to know that.

Wow! That's quite a surprise what I read here.
I live very close to Chino and Chino Hills, we go almost everyday in Chino and I never saw such a thing as someone being pulled over and shot for no apparent reason. We also have dear and good old friends in Phillips Ranch (near Diamond Bar) and we visit them quite often. That area looks sooo nice and clean and serene, everytime we go there. And it looks quite expensive too. We never saw gang members or drug tansactions there, but you never know. I'm just saying we didn't see them the drug dealers.

Wow, I'm shocked by some of the responses here. I grew up in Glendora, it's a very smoggy area because it sits in a valley surrounded by foothills. A lot of my friends moved because of asthma, allergies, etc. San Dimas is right next door to Glendora. The city is older, the homes are more expensive and much smaller. We moved to Chino five years ago because we could get a much larger house with a yard for less money. I've never regretted moving here.
"Oh by the way Chino which is next to Chino Hills. Dont speed in that city they tend to pull you over and shoot you for no apparent reason. Just thought you might want to know that." That's absurd. Where are the facts to support this? If that was happening here in Chino, I'd leave and wouldn't stop to pack my things!
I think every city has it's "good" areas and "bad" areas, drugs are everywhere, and in my opinion, where's there's more money, more drugs. There is so much good here in Chino that outweighs the bad. People actually stop for pedestrians here rather than use them for target practice. One lady actually backed up and apologized to me for not stopping in a parking lot! When I was pregnant and grocery shopping, strangers would offer to help me with my groceries. I had never experienced such friendly people before and was quite impressed. They are so down to earth and friendly here.
In the summer they have a concert in the park series, as does Chino Hills. They are on different days with different bands, so you can go to both if you want. I bring this up because you should see the community turn out at these events. It's just awesome.
As for the agriculture in Chino, any remaining dairy farms are on the east side of the city, and they are a dying breed. The dairy farmers have moved out and housing has moved in.
Every afternoon around 3pm, we get a nice breeze. It's 7:30 pm and still breezey today. Just enough to move the air. Not sure how that affects asthma.
Chino Hills is a more affluent area, the housing is more expensive, the schools are better (a result ofI more money), low crime, etc. It also seems to sit higher, and it too gets the afternoon breeze. My mother-in-law lived there and we could see city lights for miles from her place. I don't ever remember smog being an issue there.
As for Temecula, it's a growing city. Just be sure you have a job lined up first, as there's only so many places to work there. And traffic is horrendous. It's next to Fallbrook, and if you think the agriculture is bad in Chino, you haven't seen anything. It's primarily agriculture, mostly plants, not cows. A lot of the communities that are connected by the 15 freeway are experiencing more traffic congestion as new homes are being built that way. (Corona, Murrieta, etc., all the way to San Diego.)
Funny, I want to move out of California because of traffic and commute times to work, but I truly like it here in Chino.

I think the ridiculous comment about being shot for speeding refers to the incident where the drunk driver was going in excess of 100 mph trying to evade, eventually crashed then sheriff deputy Ivory Webb wound up shooting the passenger...an unarmed and cooperating passenger that was proned out on the ground. The incident was captured on video and certainly does not look good for the ex deputy that will soon be on trial for this shooting.
Chino Hills is a very nice community BTW.

The charges were dropped against the driver. He currently is cooperating with the justice department. As well as the man who video taped the incident.
As far as Chino Girl Pull your head out. Start packing seeeeeeeeeeee ya And take DA Jammer with you
IF YOU READ THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT FIRST DRAFT OF THE FINDINGS THEY STATE THE SAID PERSON AS A PASSENGER IN THE VECHILE WAS NON COMBATIVE AND OBEYING ORDERS FROM THE OFFICER WHEN HE WAS SHOT
FOR REASONS STILL UNKNOWEN WE CURRENTLY FIND THAT SAID PERSON WAS SHOT FOR NO APPARENT REASON.

A Chino, Calif., police officer shot an Air Force MP on Sunday night after a short police chase in which the airman was a passenger in the car, while he was appearing to cooperate with instructions the police officer gave.
Senior Airman Elio Carrion was shot three times and is in good condition at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton after going through surgery.
Police reportedly observed a blue Corvette driving through a residential area in excess of 100 mph (160 km/h) and after a short chase, the driver, Luis Fernando Escobedo, 21, crashed the car. At that point, a local resident grabbed a video camera and videotaped the event.
According to the videotape, Carrion, the passenger, was on the ground, when the officer ordered him to get up. Carrion said he was unarmed and in the military and would get up, and when he did, the officer, whose name was not released, shot him.
At one point, a voice is heard saying several times, “Get up.”
Carrion says, “I’m gonna get up.” As he rises, the deputy fires at least four shots from close range, and Carrion collapses, crying out in pain.
“Shots fired! Shots fired!” someone shouts.
“He was getting out of the car with his hands up and that’s when his friend started running. Since my husband was surrendering, they shot him. They shot him on the shoulder, on the chest and the leg,” said the victim’s wife Mariela Carrion. — KNBC
The officer is on paid administrative leave.
“They shot me for no reason,” Carrion said after getting out of surgery.
And the charges against Escobedo, the driver, were dropped.

hewlet, sorry you became offended but the comment you made was absolutely ridiculous about Chino and getting shot for speeding. It was a bad shooting and the ex-cop is going to trial for it as he should be. Any examples of a pattern there of speeders getting shot by the police officers simply for their alleged violation in this area? I'll be waiting for your plethora of examples to back up your statement.

The article is only one example of Chino Police abuse
Famous for issues that you see more than typical frequency of complaints brought to the City Council.
I have first hand knowledge of the Attorney General investigating a very disturbing abuse of authority issue where the then Chief of Police simply looked the other way. The problem is the bad cop (not the one mentioned in the article) is politically difficult to touch due to family local power and influence (think local newspaper), leading to other cops taking advantage under his umbrella. Might be why there has been a recent recycling of their Police Chief. But, that only addressed the symptom rather than the illness.
Bad situation that I hope the new Chief doesn't handle in a good old boy way. Not holding my breath, but holding hope never the less.

I now feel compelled to post a reply to such garbage being posted. I have lived in Chino Hills my entire life. Like many others i have had the opportunity to watch the city grow. Homes with large lots in Chino Hills are premium, as many of the houses have smaller lot sizes, i wouldn't say the term "fish bowl" is accurate. In my opinion traffic is not a problem in Chino Hills, the only problem area is on Chino Hills Parkway (between 5-6pm, week nights). That issue does not stem from Chino Hills residents, mostly those who are not residents of Chino Hills using Carbon Canyon.
Drugs will always be a problem where there is money available to support them. Drugs are not only sold in low income areas, sadly they are common amoung affluent areas as well.
As for the topic, your child's condition should be researched as well as the type of areas suggested.

Chino Hills is fine, it's on higher ground and is situated right in between coastal Orange County and the IE so we get a nice breeze that comes through the canyon everyday.
