Default Home Decorating Ideas Help, San Jacinto

I just bought a home in San Jacinto. I want to get help in selecting colors for the walls, (they are all stark white). I want to paint a sage-y green color for an accent, and use another green or yellow in the kitchen and bathroom, but I feel afraid to select colors. Has anyone used a on line tool or a decorating student or service in the area that can help me with this? Thank you!

I would go to a model home and see what colors and style they use to get some ideas... ask them if you can take pictures!

I also look at homes listed online for sale - I like Edina.com but not sure if you have it in California. But I have used Prudential also to look at homes in Calif. I know the paint companies also have online help, but I never trust the colors because they look so different with the lighting sometimes.

The easy trick for selecting complementary colors that will subtly flow into one another is you pick one on the paint chip, then you pick the other color(s) on other paint chips that are at the same position on the chip. For example, you pick a sage green that's second from the top. On the yellow or blue or whatever chip, you also pick the one that's second from the top. That way there all at the same tonal level. The professional work is actually done for you.

I'd go pretty light, though, if you're doing a whole house that you want to transition well from room to room. You can consider bolder colors once the general background is settled.

We have a Home Decorating forum on C-D. You might get a lot more help there. The people in that forum seem very nice and helpful. Best of luck!
