Does The Inland Empire Consider It's Self apart of L.A.?
Just wondering if residence in these areas still consider them self LA. When technically the IE (inland empire) is apart of LA's MSA's and greater Los Angeles areas you might have a diffrent view.

You kind of have to when you go out of town -- a lot of people still don't know where or what the IE is.
When people ask me where I grew up, I'll say Riverside (where I went to HS). I wait for the lost look on their face, and then I say "It's 50 miles SE of LA".

I consider myself part of the Greater L.A. area. I'm only 15 miles East of the L.A. County line and 45 miles East of Downtown.

I think yes, but with the exception of Temecula and Murrieta. They view themselves as more a part of San Diego. Meniffee as well, but to a MUCH smaller extent.

Agreed. My kids have never even been to L.A.

When explaining to people where you are from, I would say, yes, but as for living there, I would think of IE as a part of itself and not Los Angeles.
Of course I don't live there, but did live awfully close for many years and have lots of friends who still are there. They only identify with L.A. because of sports, etc,

I'm in RC & do NOT consider myself part of LA because my residence is not considered LA county.

Why would we consider ourselves part of LA? A lot of us left LA to get away from the crowdedness, traffic, congestion, dilapitated conditions, overpriced 1950s tract homes, fake people . LA? blah... we're part of the IE.
To out of State-ers, we're outside on the frindges of LA and OC... and I guess for those who live in Barstow to Vegas... but no way... are we part of LA!

I would say no. We don't go to LA unless we have to. The traffic we have to deal with to get there simply isn't worth it. We've been here in CA almost 3 years and have never even been to downtown LA since we moved here (we did go when we were here visiting). There are lots of things I would love to go explore in LA, but the hassle just isn't what I want to deal with in my free time. It's a shame really. There are TONS of places in LA that I've never even been to.

That's how I feel about getting out of OC. I'm MUCH happier out here than I was in OC. Maybe my views of CA will change now that I'm around normal people and can actually semi-afford a nice place to live. The job situation out here however, STINKS.
