Default Move to Crestline soon???

Hi everyone! Thought I'd just share that my wife and I made an offer on a Crestline home yesterday! I'm excited. We were looking at Crestline/Lake Arrowhead, but LA was over our price range for what we wanted(for now). I still really like Crestline though.
I know we're a bit nervous as to how the winters are going to be! We've lived in SoCal our whole lives (her San Gabriel Valley, me- Chino Hills) and it's going to be a big change! BUT- no matter, I think it's going to be totally worth it just to get away from all those things we really don't like here in the IE. We currently have a 1 year old and I just want to make sure she, and whatever other kids come along, grow up in a great enviornment. I think you get my point.
Anyways, I'm going to be the commuter down the hill. I work in Pomona right now, about 50 min away, but the school I work for also has a extension campus in Colton, so I'm considering moving there. However should I be looking for a AWD or 4x4 vehicle? How bad does the snow get in Crestline- I heard not as bad as LA. I've been eyeing those Subaru's. Or maybe a pickup? Any advice?
Or better yet, can someone invent a: low-gas consumption 4x4/awd, that's inexpensive

What part of Crestline? Anywhere east of the lake is fine. It's just that Top Town and VOE are very white trash and have a drug problem. Not exactly what you're looking for for your child but the school system up there does have its share of bad apples (I know first hand). It's a better alternative than most of the IE but the mountains really aren't a beacon of milk and honey like they're cracked up to be.

The most popular car in Idyllwild is the Subaru Impreza with AWD. It's great in the snow and ice, cheap to buy used or new, and gets excellent gas mileage.

Crestline has the most beautiful summers than any place in the states, imho. The winters can be rough, with ice, snow, and fog. whatever vehicle you do have, get fog lights. Loved it when I lived there..26 years ago.
