Sorry for all the posts, trying to figure out the "quote several" feature still. Here is one I have looked into
SPECIALS...1ST MONTH FREE...SPECIALS
While it may not look too nice by CA standards I can assure you it looks equivalent to the "nice" apartment communities here in the rust belt.

If boredom and heat don't bother you, there's always the rural high desert. Check out Lucerne Valley.
My godson just bought a very nice home there on a huge lot for less than 40k.

Really?! Boredom I am used to that's why I'm a writer and Heat is always welcome, it's the negative 25 degree temps I'm running from. Lucerne Valley, check. I'll look it up. Thanks!

My students used to live in that apartment complex. It wasn't a bad place but definitely dingier than the photos portray. It is right across the street from a plaza with Albertson's, Panera Bread, Blockbuster, Radio Shack, etc. The streets surrounding the complex are some of the best in Redlands, historic homes, tree lined streets. The A.K Smiley library, the Redlands Bowl, the Lincoln Shrine, Prospect Park, Market Night are all nearby and while maybe a little long for walking (depending on who you are), they are all a pleasant bike ride away. I really like Redlands. It really is close to everything. After living here for awhile, you will probably forget how close everything feels when you first get here. I remember moving here and thinking, "Woah, I have a choice of 20 supermarkets within 10 miles!". Now if I have to drive 10 miles for something, I am annoyed. :] Anyway, I think you can have a good lifestyle in Redlands, it is a great place to be.

In Redlands?
Try "Lawn and Tennis" and the appartments in the surrounding area (Barton Rd.).
Try to stay south of I-10.
Try Hospitality Lane for nearby entertainment.
Redlands is nice and only 45 mins. (give or take - depending on traffic) away from
Palm Springs (desert),
Arrowhead and Big Bear (Snow),
L.A. (City),
and the Beach (Beach).
Probably one of the better places to live in the I.E..

Cypress Villas complex is in a good area in Redlands. There are better - but it's still a nice area- just a little close to the downtown area.
-I grew up in Redlands
