Is Redlands a bad place to live?
I see the rent in Redlands CA is much more affordable than many other areas of SoCal that I have searched. You know the old saying, if it sounds too good to be true...anyway, is this a gang area or something? I'm finding nice 1 bedrooms for $750. which is in my budget. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Redlands is a wonderful old and very traditional town. the problem might be finding employment. It is on the conservative side, not all that exciting but certainly a wonderful place.

If you found a *house* for $750, I'd be very wary.
Housing in Redlands is usually considered higher-priced than the surrounding towns. Well-off neighborhoods have shaded streets with old Victorian houses. It's also a University town. You may be looking at housing around the University? Is it north of the freeway? South of the freeway?

Depends on what part of town. There are a lot of bad areas north of the 10, but the rest is fine.

I would think about the same as what you are saying. Like any city or town there are a few less desirable areas. though Redlands is going to be less expensive that similar housing closer to Los Angeles, as the IE goes it would be higher than many areas.

Why didn't I think to recommend you the farthest reaches of the IE before?
You would be fine anywhere in Redlands. Just keep in mind that LA is 60 miles away and the beach is 50 miles away.

Redlands is great. Good private college there, so some apartment complexes around U of R will have some students living there. A few good bars “down town” … close enough to whatever kind of shopping you need. There is good freeway access out there these days, I make the Santa Moniac-Redlands trip in 70 minutes (I go when there is no traffic), which is about 80 miles.
Where are you planning on commuting to? Traffic is always a consideration, but if you’re staying local, its no big deal.

No it's a 1 bedroom apt in an apartment complex called "Cypess..." Cypress something, I'd have to look it up again but on craigslist they got really good move in specials and viewing it on Google Maps I went up and down the street and the area looks decent. I'm willing to settle for boring if it gets me out there. In the future I could always move closer to the coast, but this seems like an affordable start for my move to Ca.

So what areas of the IE would suggest I try that is in this same price range ($750.)? I loved Ontario because it was laid back and still had enough to do to stay active, but it's more expensive. While I would like to live in L.A., I am open to many other areas of SoCal as long as it's fairly affordable (700-850) range. I am moving 98% to escape 6 month snowy tundras, so as long as I accomplish that I can deal with boredom and excessive heat.
