Default Help Choosing an Inland Empire TV/High Speed Internet Provider

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to get some opinions on what might be the best provider for
HD cable TV service and High speed internet in the Inland Empire. I am moving to the IE in a few weeks and select a TV and Internet provider. The choices in my apartment community seem to be Charter Cable, DirecTV, and DISH TV. I have always used cable TV (Comcast in Michigan and Time Warner Cable here in New York City) and have been moderately satisfied but I have heard a lot of good things about satellite dish TV(particularly since So Cal has such good weather dish TV reception should be excellent). Anyone have any opinions on whether I should stick with Charter cable or should I try out DISH or DirecTV. Thank you in advance for any help you might provide.

I've had DishTV for almost 10 years and no complaints whatsoever.
(If you can afford to, tell them you want to pay annually and get the 10% discount. They won't tell you about it.)
DishTV also has internet service, but I use Verizon for DSL because I get it cheap.

I liked cable internet better. But the non HD TV on Dish and Direct TV is much better than Cable. I couldn't tell the difference with HD channels. With cable you can also get on demand shows and pay per view w/o having to call.

I am lucky enough to have Verizon FIOS.

We also have Verizon FIOS, which is awesome. If you're apartment doesn't offer it (most don't), you'll probably be happy enough with DirecTV. That's who we had until we were able to switch to FIOS. For high-speed internet, we got it through Verizon with our phone plan.

Thank you for the advice.. so it seems like satellite dish for TV is good. How is the internet on satellite dish and also is there any landline phone service available in a package with satellite TV? I wish I could get Verizon FIOS as well but it looks like a no-go for my apartment community. If the satellite dish internet is deficient in any way, I may as well stick with cable for the convenience. Me and my wife are pretty heavy internet users so high speed internet service quality is definitely important. Oh well.. will try to get FIOS later after I buy a house.

I had Charter cable for a long time, and was never happy with anything about them. When Verizon Fios became available, I signed up and have never been happier. Net is much faster, and the TV picture is much better.

As already mentioned - don't rule out Verizon Fios if at all possible. We had it in Redlands when it was BRAND NEW in the area (~2006), and it was great.

So, assuming Verizon FIOS is not available.. would DirecTV or DISH network give better "bang for the buck" service? It sounds like Charter cable does not have the greatest reputation out there. Perhaps I can split my internet from the TV service if necessary.

I like Direct TV, and have used them before. I would recommend splitting it up, Direct TV for TV, and charter for internet.
