Default Looking to move back to home Corona....

I am looking to move back to my chilhood hometown of Corona after being gone more than 20 years. I am looking for Employment options and housing options. I currently live in Ridgecrest CA (China Lake) where I work for a Government Contractor on the local Navy base as a Technical writer/editor for the VX-9 program and I own my house, which I will be putting on the market here shortly. I need to find employment in Corona or nearby in my field that will pay me enough to support myself and a teenage daughter along with a mortgage once I get to Corona. I have registared with Monster, yahoo jobs, Raytheon, Boeing and Jobs.com and have had no luck yet (it has only been a coupple days so I am not discouraged) but I would like to cover all my basis so that I can accomplish this move within a 6mo window. I am figuring that finding a house to buy will be the easiest part of all this I dont have a whole lot of requirements for that other then the obvious ones safety, price, space, reasonable condition those kind of things. I do have a valid California Real Estate license but do not want to rely on that for my sole income (to unsteady). Does anyone here have any other ideas for me for employment options ie..major contractors in town or close by that I can send a resume to for consideration, or a site I can registar with that has a higher success rate at finding or posting jobs then the ones I listed? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am really looking forward to returning to Corona and being closer to my family and friends.

Since you already work for a government contractor, maybe you should keep an eye on USAJOBS (official job site of the US Federal Government)

Just make sure you don't put yourself in the position of needing to commute on the 91 West. Under no circumstances. Worst traffic in all of SoCal.

Gandalara, I have USAjobs, DoN Recruitment site and CalJOBS all in my site as well, thank you for the suggestion.
AKgirlinCA, I remember the traffic and I am not looking forward to that, right now I can drive to work in 11 minutes. When I lived in Corona before I worked in Newport Beach 91 to 55 both of those are always bad, use to take 2+ hrs to drive to work and more on Hoilday's

Wow, I grew up in Corona and have also lived in Ridgecrest.

Is being back in Corona worth leaving your job behind? Surely you could go to Corona on weekends? (I did occasionally when I lived in Ridgecrest)

The advantage you have in your situation is that it isn't terribly difficult to find a job in/near Corona from Ridgecrest.

One thing that made me want out of Corona (and CA altogether) was that it was so hard to make a living there. But, if there's a time to get back into Corona, it is now.

I wish you luck.

I live in Corona and there is a Naval Base there. Can't remember the name offhand, but it's right off the 15 freeway. I don't know if they do what you do, but it's worth a look.
My mom is a govt contract worker, and attends training classes at China Lake usually once or twice a year.
Here you go, isn't google wonderful...??!!

David, Yes to me it is worth it I have lived here almost 20yrs... I no longer have family here and only a few friends that I see only like 6 or 7 times a yr (busy lives) I know I make great money here but compared to what I will be spending going back and forth not to mention the inconviennce of having to make arragnements to stay with someone when I do go there I would rather just move back, but I since I have such agreat job here and a house to sell, I am looking but giving it a wide time frame for it to happen. It has to be on my terms not something that I have to take but will worth my wile. Thank you for the luck I know I will need it.

Ginagirl, It was suggested by some people that I work with that, that would be a good place for my skills, I am registared with the Navy job site and several others. Thank you for taking the time to look up the info for me. Keeping m fingers crossed... Karla
